I haven't encountered too many people who are actually in the depths of despair.

Most seem to be on the plains of apathy, or perhaps the divots of mild annoyance.

I doubt he would have spoken to Bale about coming here - presumably he'd only have an interest in clubs where a minor stake is available, and I don't get the impression that Tan is looking for that kind of investment.
