was and still is my fav Jam tune
sad news tonight on hearing of the passing of drummer Rick Buckler
Seen Weller solo live in the past but never did mange to see the Jam live

Oh, that’s sad news, didn’t realise he was my age.
Saw the Jam in Sophia Gardens Pavillion in 1979 I think it was, it felt like I was one of the oldest people in there.
afraid not
I'm shocked and saddened by Rick's passing. I'm thinking back to us all rehearsing in my bedroom in Stanley Road, Woking. To all the pubs and clubs we played at as kids, to eventually making a record. What a journey!

Sad news, saw it posted on a few fb mod groups I’m in, but someone said he was ill but still alive…what a band they were late 70’s early 80’s…was too young to see them live.
To be fair Paul Weller is upset but not half as upset as me having to listen to all the rubbish he's put out since The Jam split up
Don't normally contribute to these type of threads and wasn't really a fan of the jam but I am a little saddened to hear of this news, my musical taste changes from week to week but currently, my favorite Jam tune is ghosts. Raw, clean and just a listenable spin.
we lose another great musician from the magical days of the 70 and 80's music scene
drummer Clem Burke RIP
always been my fav Blondie song

I'm sure it's just coincidence, but the amount of drummers that die before anyone else does in a band is pretty phenomenal.
Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters)
Clem Burke (Blondie)
Rick Buckler (The Jam)
John Bradbury (The Specials)
Keith Moon (The Who)
John Bonham (Led Zeppelin)
Neil Peart (Rush)
Jeff Porcaro (Toto)
Bob Bryar (My Chemical Romance)
Rick Allen's left arm (Def Leppard)
News like this inevitably leads me on a little Wikipedia journey.
Not a huge Jam fan, but I didn't realize Paul Weller was so young - only 66. In fact he is only 7 years older than Simon Fowler of Ocean Colour Scene, who I think of as being an entirely different generation altogether.
The world record for a drum solo has to be around 7 hrs.
It was some snotty little brat behind me on a flight back home once :)
