I get that Ramsey is viewed as something special because he was produced by the club and went on to have a career at the top level, but why such stick for Purse?
I instinctively balk at claims to be “in the know”, but I reckon he could well be right about a toxic atmosphere within the club here - the decision to get rid of people like Purse, Shaw and Ramasut poses a lot of questions.

I can imagine the players week in week out saying to themselves 'this isn't working', but all Riza kept doing was change personnel every game in the hope it would. They may have had no strong views on him earlier on but in the last 3 months I'm betting they've collectively concluded he's utterly clueless and not worth respect..
There's loads of rumours and chatter re callum robinson and why he wasn't in the squad yesterday. I'm sure we all saw the stories about him squaring up to riza and storming out of the changing room after the stoke game? Let's see if he's in the squad on Monday.
it could well be that the club were forced into action to quell the call for protest from the other messageboard, apparently there are plans to stage a large scale protest outside the main entrance of the stadium before the next home game against Oxford, how that helps at this point I don't know..
on a positive note (I like to look at the positives) wherever we end up next season Mr Riza will not be at the helm.

Rumours, rumours, rumours. But if Robinson wasn't injured and if he went out on the town on Thursday night (another rumour), then that speaks volumes about him as much as his former manager.

General feeling has gone from they couldn't see how we would win any more games to now being absolutely certain we will win on Monday and stay up with the new manager bounce.

Yes, I think you’re probably right there. Using Joel Bagan as an example, he had a bit of a wobble a few games ago, but, generally, he’s been one of our better defenders this season, yet he’s hardly been used in the last month. He left Ashford out for four or five games when he’d played a big part in bringing about the run of improved results only a few weeks earlier.
The longer he was in the job, the more uncertain Riza became and the more cautious he became tactically. Becoming more cautious was understandable to a degree given how we were defending, but it didn’t bring about any improvement in that part of the game and the big improvements in attacking play we saw when he first took over had long gone by the time he was sacked.
Who was responsible for Richard Shaw. Brought in as defensive coach. Our defence has been shambolic. A complete failure to have any sort of settled defence or partnerships.
Of course Shaw will have his version.
I'm not entirely sure why Purse gets stick either. I think the 'other board' had an agenda against him, because the U21s went through a really lean time under Purse's leadership in the early days.
For a while I was non-plussed about Purse as a player. However, two incidents stood out in my mind which eventually endeared him to me.
The first was a game at Ninian Park, during which nothing was going right for him, he was playing as if his laces had been tied together.
Suddenly, we were awarded a penalty... Purse sprinted 40-50 yards, grabbed the ball and scored!
A lesser person would have shyed away from the responsibility. I think (I might be wrong) we won the game as a result of the penalty?
The second incident that got me liking him was when a rather overzealous referee instructed Purse to remove his wedding ring moments before kick-off. Even though the ring was taped up, the ref wasn't having it. Purse chose not to play, rather than take off his wedding ring. A man of true values and priorities in my opinion. I seem to recall he had the support of Dave Jones at that time.

I met Purse a few times while he was playing here. If he wasn't in the team at away games, he'd often be alongside his family in the away end. He always came across as a really genuine guy. The vitriolic stick he gets in some quarters baffles me, especially as he was someone who always gave his all when playing for us.
Stick for Purse, Ramusut and co is because we never see any evidence on the pitch of anything these guys have worked on during the week.

If a Darren Purse or Sean Morrison was in the side I don’t think we’d be in this mess.
