Malone, Peltier, Immers probably better than most of the crap we've signed since? Plus the profit we made on Zohore, think it's harsh to be honest.
It's good news for Riza's CV.
Shame the club didn’t sort out some sort of deal to boost the crowd for Oxford game, bank holiday and all that…new manager….maybe a half price thing….oh wait…![]()
I like this dice roll. Fingers crossed
Is this going to be an old-fashioned player-manager situation?
Liked the way Ramsey spoke in his 1st interview.
Confident and controlled. Hope it will be similar after Oxford game.
Ramsey came back to Cardiff knowing one day he would put his foot on the managerial ladder, if he hung around long enough. He's been eyeing the job since he signed. Makes you think what affect having a player with his eye on the top job has on the rest of the squad.
Two thoughts with this - I can't be bothered to read through all of the pages, so apologies if I repeat anyone else.
1) I thought Ramsey had been helping to advise Riza? If Riza has been taking on board Ramsey's advice, then I can't see much happening that we haven't seen so far.
2) If Riza was a disappointing appointment due to his lack of experience as a manager, then the same surely applies to Ramsey, or is he acceptable because of his playing career?
These might sound like I'm having a downer on Ramsey but that's simply not true. Let's hope things work out. Even if we go down, which I still think is as likely as it was yesterday, these 3 games should have no bearing on Ramsey's future as a manager, either way - if we stay up or go down. He's dealing with a poisoned chalice.
Great stuff, maybe a game or 2 late, but its a throw of the dice and we have nothing to lose
Well Chuffed for Rallsy, 400 games for us and now this![]()
Given the tim8ng of the appointment (two days before the third last game of the season): it was always going to be an appointment from within and, given the options available, Ramsey seems the best choice to me. We’re looking at things from the outside, so don’t know what relationships between staff and players had got like, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they were pretty bad. Therefore my guess would be that Ramsey would be the candidate most likely to bring about a degree of unity solely because of a respect for what he’s done in the game - there’s the old line of “show us your medals” which gets fired at managers with limited playing experience, well, apart from maybe Craig Bellamy, Ramsey can do so more than any recent City player.
If Ramsey is going to take the job up full time at the end of the season, I wouldn’t rule out him bringing in an experienced number 2 alongside him and Gunter
Let’s be realistic about this, it’s more likely to happen with Rambo at the helm than anyone else
Rambo is a highly decorated player who is probably the best midfielder Wales have ever had
He will have lots of contacts and pull
This is the best news of the season and whilst I think it should have happened sooner, it’s still probably our only chance of staying up
Agreed.
That got me thinking - what sort of manager would take over next season? Someone wanting to start a career, like Ramsey, would be advised to give it a wide birth. Realistically, it would suit someone whose career wouldn't take too much of a hit.
An old experienced manager, who could walk away without damaging their reputation?
Someone with no experience from a lower league having a punt at something above their station - no real risk and plenty of reward on the off chance it goes well?.
An unspectacular Championship/L1 journeyman - again little to damage their reputation, put it down as a one off?
Otherwise the job has the potential to damage the career of someone aiming high as a manager.
We're looking at the shortest 'new manager bounce' in football history. I agree that probably it's his presence in the dressing room and on the training ground that will be the positives for the next 3 games rather than anything radical tactic-wise. His team selection will be interesting to say the least !
