Has he still got to keep playing to pay for his wife’s and Coleen Rooney’s legal costs ?

Lockyer hasn't played a game since December 2023. He has heart issues and has collapsed on the pitch twice. He's had ankle surgery twice in recent months.

We definitely need some leaders in the squad, but Lockyer would be somewhere near the bottom of the list of players we should be looking to sign in the summer.
Well yes, he wouldn't be available otherwise would he. And it may come as a surprise to some people, but when we go down, we're not exactly going to be able to have our pick.

He's been seeing the same cardiologist as Christian Eriksen, who hasn't had any problems since Euro 2020.

I would 100% rather take a risk on someone like him than continue down our current route of signing weak, slow, "ball playing" centre backs from abroad. Especially in League 1, where Daland would be destroyed by some of the lumps down there. It comes to something when I look at our current options and yearn for the days of Aden Flint.
