Are they trying to make it impossible for teams to climb the footballing ladder now? ****ing disgraceful, it's bad enough the Premiership is basically impregnable, but now the Championship is going to see teams get jettisoned down on their first season up now.
Man City has ruined this sport for everyone.
Have you watched L1? There is minimal chance next season is about 'survival', we would be a massive anomaly amongst relegated championship teams if we struggled in our first season in L1.
Out of every club relegated from the Championship going back to the 14/15 season only Blackpool (15/16) and Bolton (19/20) who were relegated to League 2 and Wigan who survived by a point in 20/21 have had poor League 1 campaigns following relegation from the Championship.
All other teams including those relegated multiple times have finished comfortably mid table (including points deductions in at least 2 clubs cases) with many finishing in the top 6. Stop catastrophizing our situation.
Why Man City, I thought it was great them gate crashing the ‘elite’ not long after a lucky promotion from the division we’ll be in next season. Good to see a club coming up from the 3rd tier to where they are now. There are Premier League clubs who’ve spent more than they have, chopped & changed managers etc, a few of these have had their noses put out of joint by Man City.
Whys that? They were a basket case of a club, not unlike the majority of also rans. Down in the 3rd tier but unlike other also rans they kept a decent fan base, 28,000 average. Those who went then deserve the times theyre having now. Much the same as our 3000 odd diehards who deserved 2nd tier football for a while, a bit of Premier League football, cup finals etc. We spent our way out of it mind, ridiculous fees for the 3rd tier at the time for some players, perhaps theyd be ridiculous fees even now for that level.
Yes, I think its good for the game that they ruffled the feathers of the, at the time, untouchable football royalty, certainly the ones who regarded them as just noisy neighbours. Of course theyve created a lot of jealousy, mistakenly assuming theyve spent millions more than near rivals, they havent. Their owners have rejuvenated a run down part of Manchester, creating many jobs as well.
As for the accusations against them, let him without sin cast the first stone. We dont have to look far to witness skullduggery at a football club. Theyve given their loyal fans great times and memories, even sweeter given the previous dominance of their neighbours.
I see your point but 1999 version of Man City under Franny Lee is far removed from the version of Man City since 2008.
Being owned by consecutive political tyrants will always be questionable and I suppose the accusations of financial doping, political oppression and modern day slavery need to be considered before damning them?
Youre right about them tarting up East Manchester, money can buy love it seems.
Guardiola is a great coach, his moral compass seems a bit off for me though, he happily supports independence for Catalonia but is a bit quiet on human rights in United Arab Emirates, cant think why?
I see this week Man City fans protesting about being priced out of watching their team. The irony here is Man City are becoming everything they hated about their neighbours.
My initial reply was to Coyote’s statement that Man City had ruined the sport for everyone. I don’t think they have, some of the football we’ve witnessed has been a joy to watch, the Aguero winner, for instance, was an all time memorable sporting moment, their city rivals on the pitch at Sunderland assuming they’d won the league………. Far from ruining the sport, it was a reminder to us all what great sporting moments are all about.
As for dodgy buggers running/owning clubs, that’s been the case since time immemorial. As the game in our country has grown it’s attracted all sorts of investors from all over. The finger pointed at Man City could equally be pointed at a few clubs, so I think the statement that they’ve ruined the sport is unfair.
You’re correct about their fans protesting at prices and I know that long standing fans do sneer at the new breed of ‘tourist fans’ that the club’s success has attracted but that’s not just a Man City thing.
Is Coyote a closet Man U/Liverpool fan, they seem the ones with the chip on their shoulder over Man City’s revival![]()
Its unfair on Man City in some respects as being labelled with ruining football because everyone seems to have forgotten about Putins butty Abramovich at Chelsea and the host of chancers who have owned clubs over the years. Makes you question the powers that be fit and proper rules really but thats another discussion all together.![]()
I visit Manchestuh quite a bit via work and other things. It's interesting to see United & City fans complaining of the same issues.
Man City did some really good work attracting kids to their games in the past but appear to be going down the same path as their neighbours in starting to price kids out by raising prices to attract 'out of towners'.
Man United fans are up in arms about Jim Ratcliffe whose gone from saviour to Tory cuunt in the space of a year by cutting staff, raising prices and putting on a list of demands on season ticket holders . Not sure what they expected though as he's always been a Tory cuunt.
I think both sets of supporters feel like they're getting pushed around/out to cater for corporate and day tripper markets, they're right.

Barnsley may be 199 miles from the CCS as the crow flies - but never as a fan drives, unless it is taking a weird cross country route through the Midlands - in which case the journey times are way too low.
I live in south west Sheffield and my route on match day via Chesterfield, M1, M42, M50, M4 to Hadfield Road is 201 miles. Add another 20 miles at least if coming down the M1 from Barnsley.
