Thread: Leeds v Bristol City

  1. #1

    Leeds v Bristol City

1-0 to Leeds after 25 minutes.

At the start of play, this was 2nd v 5th. Within minutes of the kick-off it looked like a decent Premier League team against a poor League One side.

The fact that this Bristol City team is in the play-off positions speaks volumes about the quality of the Championship this season. It really has been dreadful. And we’re bottom of the table.

    Leeds 83% possession.

And it’s not possession for the sake of possession. They’re completely dominant so far.

We were probably well worth the point in both matches v Bristol c while Leeds absolutely blew us away.

Still feels destined that Bristol will get promoted, just another bit of salt to the wound.

It should be against EFL rules for a team this poor to be promoted from the Championship.

Leeds by far the best team in the league imo, would any of our lot even trouble their bench?

Not a chance. But I don’t think any of Bristol’s players would either, and they’re fifth.

    Re: Leeds v Bristol City

24% possession and 0 efforts on goal for Bristol at half time. Still only 1-0 down though.

    2-0 Leeds now. We’re 53 points behind them. 🤣

Bogle & Firpo are interesting to watch.

Leeds’ 0-0 draw with Burnley was a poor game, but I’ve watched them on plenty of other occasions this season and they’ve always been entertaining.

I’ve seen Bristol City on four or five occasions and they’ve looked garbage every time. But in fairness, so has most of the division.

How do we think this current Leeds team will fare in the premier league? Will they need to add many more signings to survive?

They'll need 3 or 4 at least. No way are they going into the PL with Meslier & Darlow as their options

Great job of keeping their goal difference better than those around them by Bristol.

It's possible that one team could end up not winning the league with 100pts. Has that ever happened before?

No. There has never been a season when two teams in the same division have won 100 points each.

Somehow, one or two of Bristol City, Millwall and Blackburn are going to end up in the play-offs. And they’re all abysmal.

    You are too kind.

Coventry were alongside us just before Xmas weren't they? They can't be that great?

And personally I really don't think much of Sheffield United. I do think the quality is worse now in the league. No doubt Sheffield United would be a competitive top 8 side in any championship- but to break 90 points? Nah!

I haven't really seen Sunderland too much to comment but suspect the same.

Granted I'll assume you mean the Football League/Premier League, however Wrexham and Notts County did a few years back in the National League.

Last year was the same mind. Southampton had lowest points total and they got 87. Leicester and Ipswich 97 and 96. How have they all got on in the Premier league?

Something quite worrying happening I think.

Have a look at the current premier league table and how many points they all got in the Championship last season. That may give you a clue!

I was talking about the EFL, it’s been mentioned a number of times on the recent Sky coverage of matches that it’s never happened before, but I doubt it’s happened in the Premier League either given they play fewer games.

How did Leicester’s squad look this season by comparison to last? Did they keep their best players? I know they lost their manager.

Leicester lost 11 Championship games last season. With one to go, Leeds have lost 4 and Burnley have lost just 2.
