For me it was Preston at home.
Dreadful performance from then on .
I thought we would get out of it until Luton at home
Luton away, if we couldn’t beat the poorest side in the division, what hope was there for us
Losing to Luton in such a pathetic manner was the realisation that we're up to our neck in it. Failing then to beat either of Oxford or Stoke, just showed other teams had more fight and desire (not necessarily more quality) than us.
Many games indicated relegation was a serious possibility or even a probability, but the Stoke defeat was the one that sealed it for me. Before then, I still believed City would somehow scrape their way out of it by a point or two, but that pathetic effort indicated the team simply wasn't up to it.
I said after the QPR game that we'd finish bottom without winning another match.
Luton at home
Oxford away another one though it felt like we had plenty of time to bring in a new manager then
Was always pretty confident we’d stay up until Oxford on Boxing Day, then my faith was restored until we went to Leeds where we were so passive and feeble that I went into glass half empty again. However, it was after Luton that I became convinced we’d had it.
Oxford away was an eye opener of how bad we were as a team we looked like a bunch of scared individuals that hadnt been coached together. I left there thinking wed go down if nothing changed, ultimately nothing changed and we went down
I can understand why people are highlighting the Luton home defeat, it was a shocker, but the fact is we were still above the relegation zone by a point after that game and we won our next one (Blackburn away). After that victory we were still 21st, but were four points ahead of Luton and six ahead of Plymouth. The fact that we're now two points behind Plymouth and five behind Luton highlights just how feeble the side has been in its last seven matches.
I thought that we would scrape up again, but probably the Stoke game for me. I've been calling out these players for 2 seasons now, we've had six different managers, coaches? Although a bit unfair on Ramsey. None of them could get a sustained tune out of a group who are on the slide, none of them are on the up, accept maybe Salech, Ashford has stalled. As a collective they're losers, so some of them could play lower championship, but they would need players with more character and belief around them. A case in point is Perry Ng, with his antics. Some people might think it's alright, gamesmanship etc, it's not, it's to mask his lack of ability. If a player is going to do that type of shit then they need to be good players in order to get away with it. So many of them are on the slide, as good as they'll ever be.
Hull away
Oxford away thought it could well be the year we went down.
Luton home thought it was definitely the year. Even though we were out of the relegation zone still looking at the form of teams around us and the games left it felt like an inevitability.
Luton at home, not just the result but the way we played. After that, failure to get many points against the teams around us.
I didnt think wed go down until Luton at home. Started to become real after that and then confirmed in the stoke game
Surprised Luton away is getting a mention, that was on the back of Rizas 5 or 6 game unbeaten run and seemed a bit of a one off to me at the time
Luton at home I thought we are seriously in trouble here then Stoke is where I knew it
we even managed to take the lead against Luton then completely bottled it
