It's a fair point though. Look how much man united spent chasing their guy and they lasted 4 months and sacked him. Their fans were so excited and encouraged when they got him.

Stoke have jon walters. Blackburn have rudy gestade. Both seem unpopular at their clubs but when failure comes it's the manager who gets sacked not them.

If cardiff just had a DOF it would be a disaster. Tan would either not trust them at all and would be lip service, or tan would trust them and then sack them when something goes wrong.

Bulut last summer for example was asking for more control the kind of stuff a DOF would do. What do you do if you appoint someone like that?

The idea behind the DOF is you employ the coaches/managers to suit them etc. I.e its not them that gets fired.

I'm not against one with a proper overhaul of a structure on and off the pitch- but the way some people seem to think it would be a silver bullet is crazy. Especially as the managers we keep appointing were at best untested before us, crap with us then disappear after us. If we had a real manager people wouldn't be so bothered about a DOF.

Zero. I think Vinnie should just pull the plug.

    So what do you suggest?

Just the appointment of a DOF would need to be part of many changes, including full time CEO, a genuine coaching staff etc..... and others.

My fear/prediction would be tan could just give us a DOF if he thinks that would take the heat off. Lots of fans here would be delighted but everything would still be just as crap and he can say I told you so.

I'm not sure why people are so focused on a DOF specifically as it's always that that gets mentioned?

Eg in my opinion whoever the DOF was we would still have been totally shit with morison hudson and riza as managers.

Edit- I get the point a real DOF would never have appointed people like that but hopefully you get the point! And chances of us appointing a good DOF when you look at the managerial choices?

Also to throw in while a good DOF can have a very positive impact.

A bad DOF can be even more costly and have an even greater negative impact than a couple of bad managers.

I get you could say the same with a CEO or anyone but again likelihood of this board appointing a good DOF? Zilch.

I'm going to take a wild guess and suggest it may be because the football club's board of directors currently comprises of a Malaysian business mogul, an investment banker, a car salesman and an engineer.

Yes and the way I'm looking at it to go straight to a DOF misses a few gaps.

Full time CEO and people running the club then I can look at it.

What chance would any DOF have in that current structure? Would be impossible.

Have you heard many boo's at the players? Very few.

There's apathy right across the club and it's supporters except when it comes to Tan, (who bankrolled quite a number of signings last summer and January that on the whole, thought we're to be better than it's transpired). When it comes to Tan it's rather targetted and venomous.

    That's why I believe he's a scapegoat.
I don't think he's a scapegoat, I think his failure to appoint football understanding directors/controllers/whatever to make the football decisions is the reason we are in a mess.

He's backed us financially, but has failed with Manager appointments and an ongoing philosophy/strategy.

A lot of fans clearly are clueless.

Not many would have put us relegated.
Hindsight, who would have thought they would appoint some random inexpereinced coach to run the team for a year?????

Half decent Manager would have got that squad ten points plus clear of the relegation spots.

All big businesses use AI, 95% of most business stuff is run through AI, staff do it even if the company knows about it or not.

some of you are just desperate to be angry at him whatever he does? have you all been taking lessons from my ex wife?

    if he l
halved the cost of a season ticket some of you would find some way of complaining about that.
Thats true, I don't care how it's kocked up, as long as he means it and plans big changes that's great news.

Somebody from WalesOnline can easily set up a series of four or five podcasts with FAB members and invite other fans to discuss where things have gone wrong over the past season and beyond - each episode covering a separate area where the club have made a mess of things.

Maybe the first episode could cover the lack of criticism from the local media over several years - helping sustain the status quo in the Cardiff City boardroom - and kick off the series with an apology.
It depends what fans, one of them thought Riza was a great idea

Is there a successful football club in European football that doesnt have a DOF/Sporting director or equivalent?

Im pretty sure the answer is no..

..its, like, as if there is, like, a correlation or something between employing someone to oversee the long term strategy of the club and having footballing success.

Is there a successful football club in Europe that doesn't have a full time ceo and an absent board and owner like us?

I'm not against a DOF but without other changes also it wouldn't change anything.
