Alnwick
Kpakio
Lawlor
Fish
Bagan
Giles
J Colwill
R Colwill
Ashford
Davies
Salech
Apart from up front and in goals as no options at all there it's mainly home grown (fish also)
I wonder how much the wage bill would be?
I'm not sure it would stay up though?
I hope CoD stays.. He's a leader. Did you notice that Alex Robinson was going to take the penalty yesterday.. However he ensured that Salech took it
That team should be fine to stay up in League One. Rotherham had an absolutely revolting team in the Championship bar the goalkeeper who quickly got sold off, and still finished 16th this season (and yes, I know they beat us 5-2 in the final game that season, but we were absolutely on the beach at that point).
There's an outside chance we could go on a colossal downward spiral, but I do think it's unlikely, even given the culture around the club. I'll predict we'll finish in the upper-half but either miss out on playoffs or lose in them.
Yes. But that midfield would get bent over an awful lot.
Itll stay up but that wont be the team.
My blind optimism tells me providing we keep the majority of this team well kick arse in League one, go up automatically and then push on from there.
But people dont want to hear that right now.
Alot depends on who their manager and coaches are.
Yes but that wont be the team
Well continue the off field stuff. The restructure will culminate in a change of manager for whatever is the cheapest option.
Well skirt around near the bottom and hopefully avoid relegation
Completely agree, people seem to think just because we've been shit in this league we'll be shit in League 1. That isn't how it works and the proof is in the pudding for the majority of clubs relegated from the championship to league 1. Many come back quickly and a lot more are at absolute worst comfortably clear of relegation.
If we struggle we will be a massive anomaly, but as you say people don't want to hear that, they are too in their feelings.
we played a league one side last season, the team was
Alnwick
Kpakio McGuiness Bagan Giles
Rinomhota King
Conte Robertson Colwill
Kanga
with Fagan Walcott, Reindorf, Evans and Tanner coming off the bench.
we won comfortably, with Colwill pulling the strings.
admittedly that league one side would go on to be relegated by the end of the season, but it should at least be a bit encouraging about next season.
Probably.
But I don’t understand the thought process of going down that route. We have a lot of players on the books who aren’t going to just go away.
Maybe I’ll get this all wrong but apart from those that were with us on loan and those out of contract, I can’t see many major changes from the current squad. Maybe a 2 or 3 in out & in.
Here's what I've worked out:
Alnwick
Bagan-Fish-Lawlor-Kpakio
King
Robertson-Colwill
O'Dowda-Salech-Ashford
Subs: Turner, Rinomhota, Giles, Conte, J Colwill, Tanner, Davies (Reindorf could be reserve/rotation)
What we'll need:
Another keeper, particularly if Alnwick is still injured.
A couple of veteran defenders, we have good youth in the defence, but probably needs some leadership.
A couple of veteran midfielders for the CDM and CM role, maybe another CAM too.
Another option or two on the wing. I've liked Poku from Peterbrough, we were linked with him last season, and it doesn't seem like he's slowed down in any way.
With Karl Robinson managing, we're serious auto-promotion contenders, so long as the morale at the club doesn't dip. We have good youth prospects ready to step into their own, just think we need a bit more leadership and experience now. Hopefully we'll sell enough to cover the loss of finances and get what we need in.
With a solid plan over the summer, this team will bounce straight back. Unfortunately solid plans and tan and co don't seem to exist. Let's pray they have finally learnt some lessons!
