David Turnbull. Ok, i believe he scored a goal, although i can't recall it happening. He's been known to have a bit of composure on the odd set piece, and i know that he's had his problems with injuries. But, i can't think of one stand out moment from him, not even something really poor, and nothing decisive. I can honestly say that until he actually makes any form of valuable contribution, then it's almost impossible for me to have any kind of opinion on him as a footballer. I don't want to make this thread about Turnbull though, he's just an example of what i'm after really (as the heading suggests) i'll throw in another one-Stuart o Keefe. We seemingly had out fair share of 'No Impression' players under Slade. Any more? i would have thought so...

This past season was full of them.
Mannsverk for me being a partial case in point.
The three Norwegians Ole signed - well, two of them anyway.
I reserved judgement on mannsverk for quite a while, same with Alves, i just couldn't get a grip on either player, something wasn't right with either of them in my opinion, although i didn't really commit, even after someone on here proclaimed them both as Premier league players in the making or something like that. Mannsverk was slow and mechanical and a bit predictable. He had one pace in every aspect of his game and thinking, when what we probably needed was some intensity and urgency in the middle (easy for me to say in hindsight though) Alves has attributes, he's young, very raw, but he reminded me of a wind up toy where the mechanics only allowed it to do circles. remember those two young lads from Everton under slade? sure there were two of them? wide players, contributed bugger all without really looking like poor players. Maybe there was only one......![]()
Eoin Doyle.... Why?
I'm not sure if Mannsverk came here as a 4,8 or 10, and I don't think he or the manager knew either. If his position was more defined we might have gotten more out of him, but the constant chopping and changing by Riza failed to get the best out of him in any position.
Alves a very odd one, clearly incredibly skilled on the ball but no end product, kind of player who beats players just to beat them then has no idea what to do with it. Didn't look to me like he has a future in the game at the highest level, although must be incredibly difficult as a young loan player to come into a chaotic situation like City under Riza who had had no cutting edge all season and make an impact to be fair.
Mannsverk is one of the slowest players I've seen and when combined with Chambers in the centre of the pitch made us unbelieveable bad at closing down the opposition.
Alves was a show pony with no end product but at least he has youth on his side so there's plenty of time for him to improve.
Macheda, lex imers and to Adamle fondre
Spedger
Le Fondre is a great shout. Scored for fun in the Championship for years, then totally unremarkable for us and moved on quickly.
Tom Ademeyi sprang to mind. Paid a fair bit for him, sent out on loan for two seasons of his contract, retired at 27. Perhaps injuries were the issue.
Edit: Though if he sprang to mind he must have made some impression.
Sheyi Ojo (oh no!)
Surprised at this but a search for eoin doyle cardiff confirms. Also brought up this story. https://www.offtheball.com/soccer/sa...ntract-1316133
Miguel Comminges, also seem to remember an Irish goal machine Jason Byrne, scored the winner at Wolves, never seen again.
