Thread: Ferretti, velikonja and now simic

    Ferretti, velikonja and now simic

Was listening to VFTN and they were discussing these 3.

Do all clubs have these strikers?! Signed for how many millions between them? All score plenty of goals for the club at some level just we never get to see them for the first team!

Not even they don't cut it at first team level- they are just never ever seen.

Odd how similar the 3 of them have been with their city careers.

Wasn’t there another one, at the same time as Ferretti, name escapes me!

I just googled Ferretti. He's 38 now and playing in Serie D, the highest level of semi-professional football in Italy for Borgo San Donnino

Slightly different scenario - he signed to play in the premier league but we were already relegated by the time he came, and we let him move on.

Guido Burgstaller is one we didn't give a chance and he's gone on to have a pretty prolific career at some respectable clubs.

Idriss Saadi - 2 league appearances I think?

    Some other good ones.

Our percentage of strikers we sign, often for millions, and literally never seeing is quite spectacular.

I get kanga and meite etc when they just don't work out but we see a lot of them- thats football.

But the ones that are absolutely prolific at under 21s etc and we just never see! Just intrigues me.

not so much that we didn't give him a chance - he didn't want to be here after our relegation

    Great shout.

"Glombard follows Glenn Loovens, Kevin McNaughton, Roger Johnson, Stephen McPhail, Michael Chopra, Mark Howard, Malvin Kamara and Nick McKoy in being the latest summer signing at Ninian Park."

Well we signed him after we were relegated so I find that hard to believe. It would've hardly been a surprise he wasn't playing in the Premier League.

See report from after the time of departure.

I know that Simic did not feature in his loan to Kortrijk but has scored some well taken goals for the U21s and has made the bench for the first team but has he now been written off or have I missed something?

Michael Reindorf can't get into the squad for Bristol Rovers, who got relegated from League One, and is our top scorer in the u21s. The gap is enormous.

Bloody hell that was a good transfer window
3 ended up going for big money and 2 further had club legend status.

3 were duds - but that is a great window overall

Didnt we go on to sign whitts that January as well?

Reindorf has't scored in the league for the U21s, all of his goals came in the welsh league cup.

Our top scorer from u21 league games is Nyakuhwa

That transfer window and picking up Whitts in the January completely redefined us a a force at this level for the next 5 years. By far the best business we've done.

I think Simic will feature next season if still here, has decent enough pedigree, goals for the Croatian u21s who cant be mugs. Still only 21.

Weird transfer though, pay a decent fee for us in recent years to then loan him out when we actually needed a striker.

That is the club in a nutshell.
