9 down 5 overs to go.
Derbyshire blocking out and then the batter dances down the track to Kellaway and is stumped by yards!
Match drawn.
Derbyshire 30 runs short of victory.
Glamorgan 1 wicket short of victory.
Kellaway bowled the penultimate ball of the game left handed - best day of his career with seventy odd and then five wickets.
Unless someone did it on their debut, there can’t be too many cases of someone getting career best batting and bowling figures on the same day.
Encouraging to see the inexperienced Kellaway and Leonard among the wickets because we’re looking very light in that department this season.
A much improved display from Glamorgan. Shame we didn't get that last wicket, but a much more encouraging performance.
Following on from an improvement v derby, a positive first session. Fingers crossed.
Yes, 128-1 after losing the toss again. Tribe reached his 50 just before lunch and Northeast is 41 not out.
Using the reciprocal membership to watch a day of Warwickshire v surrey. Nice to see Glamorgan doing well at lunch. Tribe has had a great start to life as an opener. Not an easy job but he seems to having to it very well
271-4 at tea. Tribe out just short of a maiden century for 94. Ingram 55 not out.
Close of play, 389-7 - Kellaway 91 not out.
A 2nd consecutive very positive morning.
498-8 at lunch, Gorvin out just before lunch for 47, Kellaway 142 not out. Colin Ingram’s in the runs again this season, but you could argue that our three best players this season have been the youngsters Tribe and Kellaway with the slightly more experienced Gorvin.
549-9 declared, Kellaway 181 not out and an early wicket for James Harris. Kent 6-1.
Phenomenal performance so far. Really got Kent on the ropes
Any idea at all why gorvin was left out for 2 games - unless under pressure from ECB maybe to play bashir as part of loan agreement? Obviously fernando as overseas I guess has to play?
I could be completely wrong, but I feel Gorvin might be thought of as a bit of a Cardiff specialist by Glamorgan - I get the feeling that the large majority of his wickets last year came in home matches. The two games he was left out for were at Gloucestershire and Middlesex and then he was back for Derbyshire at home - I’d hope he’s made himself undroppable forsome time with the start he’s made to the season though.
At last some good sporting news during a weekend!
Let's hope it's the start of something better - and I don't mean just in the cricket!

Against the spirit of the game?

I don't think it is when you bear in mind this story from nearly fifty years ago which explains why declarations aren't allowed in limited overs cricket.

Definitely an element of that.
I was worried that Bashir coming in would displace Kellaway but the club were obviously so keen on him that they decided to go to two spinners in April, it felt like a squad wrecking loan at the time but it just wrecked the squad in a different way to how I expected it to.
Maybe they thought it was the only way Glamorgan were ever going to get a player selected for an England senior or Lions squad again? Wonder if Kellaway's three career best scores in successive matches and his completely outbowling Bashir against Middlesex even registered with the selectors? I suppose the latter might have because it did happen at Lords.
Late order bloody runs. Again!
