he could stay and be very important for us, or be injured the entire time - it's a tough call to make, and we don't have a manager to make it

Given he's one of the few players the fans actually like, I'd keep him

These players took the club down, they are the reason we are in the third tier. How any of them bar perhaps Salech can look back on the past 10 months with anything but embarassment is beyond me. Does the club really think there's a huge list of agents lining up down Sloper Road with transfer offers and huge attractive contracts for players?

Good grief as Charlie Brown would say.

there are plenty more players who can look back on the last 12 months without embarrassment.
Callum Robinson achieved his best ever goals tally in the championship, from 34 games.
Will Fish broke into a championship team at the age of 22, ahead of some much more established players, and was one of our "least bad" defenders by the end of the season.
Cian Ashford broke into the first team etc.

just because the season as a whole was a shit show, it doesn't mean there aren't players who can take anything.from it.

I'd also like to add it's a mentality thing rather than a lot of these players being inherently poor-quality. It's the same reason Luton got relegated with us, the mentality was shit, but they had better overall quality than us, which is why they beat us twice.

Some players like Meite and Etete just don't have the quality, but I do think there's an argument that the soldiers need morale to perform to their best capability, and we're just not going to find it in this club at the moment barring huge changes.

    .....
We are all entitled to our opinions, but I will stick with mine. Hopefully next season will be better than the last three or four.

The “least bad” defender in a team that shipped goals for fun. He must be immensely proud with that accolade.

That’s up there with Mikel Arteta winning the self proclaimed best team for 160 minutes in a 2 legged champions league semi final trophy.

I agree with RJK on the players he selected, after that, i'm with you. The majority of the players were/are weak, lacked character and ability. The manager and the coaching staff were never up to the task, but lets not get away from the fact that this group of cowards finished bottom. A better coach may have made a difference, but nothing that would have topped us getting relegated in my opinion.

I thought that fish improved, not much to hang on to, but an improvement nevertheless. Apparently he broke in to the side at 22...... that speaks volumes over our expectation levels.

It is ridiculous, as has been said that somebody is classed a major success for breaking into a struggling Championship side at the age of 22!

Most decent players have played 100+ games by this age!!

There is looking at life through blue tinted spectacles and reality.

I didn't say it was a "major success" just that Fish won't consider this season to be a total embarrassment as someone else had stated. Nor should he.

I don't think most players have over 100 games at the age of 22 either, certainly not centre backs.

No they don't, especially centre backs

Van Dijk had fewer league appearances than Fish does at 22 for instance (no I'm not comparing them before anyone jumps on this)

Re: "Cardiff don't have to sell their best players"

Bobby Moore was captaining England at 22! And had played over 130 top level games.

    Why bring it up then

To show that most players don't play 100 games by the time they're 22, I'm obviously not saying Fish is as good as him, but even the best players around hadn't made 100 appearances by 22.

Don't think we're the kind of club to attract a Bobby Moore tier player unfortunately.

So we will ignore the fact that John Toshack left Cardiff aged 21 having played 161 league games and scoring 24 goals...

Players in 2025 are babies until they are passed 22! According to some.

Phil Dwyer had played well over 100 league games for the Bluebirds before he was 22.

Are our 22 year olds still bringing their Mum's to training?

    Toshack scored 74 goals

Typing error! If he had only scored 24 goals I doubt Liverpool would have bought him!

    Cheers...

I think we're just saying that players develop at different speeds aren't we? Jamie Vardy for example was playing at Stockbridge Steels at age 22

What? No! That's not how this works, you're meant to double down, maybe get a bit abusive!
