On this day 22 years ago we packed out the mill stad to win promotion to div 1.

Great day. Quite an achievement in some ways to only now be returning to that level.

    Let's hope it's a swift return.

yeah to be fair if you'd have told me that we wouldn't return to that level for 22 years, and in that time would appear in 2 major cup finals and visit the premier League twice I would have been pretty pleased with that outcome

It is an achievement, and hind sight is a wonderful thing, but a club of our standing and size ( Fan base:potential fan base, new ground and capacity, being the capital of Wales) should no longer be anywhere near League 1.
We have all the ingredients to make a wonderful cake, but the chief chef is clueless.

I agree with the sentiment but no club has a right not to fall as far as we have. Clubs with a higher profile such as Leeds and Manchester City have been to this level in the recent past. We do have ingredients to return to the Championship and higher. I would like to see League 1 as a chance to reset the club

It was a very unquie day. Canton was buzzing that day and the walk to the Mill Stadium stopping at every pub on the way was a dream day out. It was also a very sunny day which added to the occasion. Of course 'that' goal from Andy Campbell topped it all off

You are correct that no club has a god given right not to drop down the leagues, but we spent decades floundering in the wilderness, and reaching the heady heights of the 2nd tier was great. We’ve rarely looked out of place in those 22 seasons and as you’ve mentioned, even reached the Premier league twice.
It’s the manner in which we capitulated this time that is scandalous.
This has been by far the weakest championship of all the 22 seasons, but we slept walked over the cliff. Every man and his dog , except a few lunatics could see it coming.
As you say, this should be an opportunity to re-boot, re-set etc and go again, but does anyone on here really have the belief that that’s what will happen under this present regime?

    Wow what a question!

I always think it is too simplistic to just blame the owner. He has been here for 15 years, and we have never been in danger of going bust. Under previous owners we always seemed to be 5 minutes away from extinction. Despite playing in red the promotion season in 2013 was amazing. The PL season was awful, but we stabilized in the Championship and went back to the PL for another season, and we were a little unlucky to be relegated.

Since then, Tan has had his fingers burnt several times and then there has been the awful Sala case.

Hopefully that will be concluded soon, and we can appoint a new League 1 savvy manager which won’t cost Łmillions should he not work out.

Can Tan do this? I am not certain one way or the other. But what I do know is I don’t want this club sold to an investment company or hedge fund. We need another competent beneficial owner

It was an amazing day. Winning the play off final in our own backyard. Our only play off triumph thus far. The moment Campbell scored will live with me forever. Utter euphoria. I remember being so excited about going up to the championship and reading the list of teams we’d be playing over and over, after so long away. I hope that’s not repeated!

Probably the best fun day out ever watching us…..I lost a few hours that evening, I’m still unsure where I was…..
