perhaps he hadn't fully understood the question, but regardless some of our players seem to be rated more highly than other teams fans than by our own.
There was a thread on the Championship subreddit asking who was the most impressive opposition player you'd seen play against your team last season. Most of the answers were Borja Sainz or Ben Doak, but quite a lot of fans said Rubin Colwill.

Colwill looks like a good player, he just does nothing. I am a huge fan but he's scored 1 league goal in each of his last two seasons. He's got to start producing.

I think he's going to absolutely smash it next season

    I agree - hopefully.

Hopefully he stays and hopefully the new manager knows how to turn all that potential into consistent reality.

But for me it is hope rather than expectation.

Can you explain what it is that makes you not just a fan, but a "huge fan" of Rubin Colwill?
You've said yourself that he does nothing.

There is one version of reality where he completely wrecks league one and just consistently does what he did against Plymouth in the 5-0 win. Then there is the more likely version where he has a few amazing games but is largely invisible and ends up drifting out the team as the season goes on.

I don't think there is a player I want to do well more than Colwill though, you can see it's all there.

He's extremely talented. He walked past Dutch players for Wales, he just needs to harness that talent. His feet are amazing, look at how he played against Villa, there's clearly a player there but he needs to start producing

I think it's more likely he rips it up if we get a competent manager. He's far too good.

It’s too easy to blame managers for what happened with Colwill in the season just ended. I spent seven or eight years fully backing him and fighting his corner, but, in the season we finished bottom of the table, he barely played a part in some of the final games which decided our fate. It’s ridiculous that the player who destroyed Plymouth and Portsmouth and looked so good in a rotated team against what was close to Villa”# strongest side was so ineffective against other teams that he’d be introduced as a very late sub in matches that shaped our season.

He only made his debut 4 years ago! I think he's got to click soon but there's a talented player who I think will shine in a team that attacks and goes for it. We need to get a coach, so many of our players are the same player that broke into the team. I don't think they've all reached their potential. I have said in the past, getting someone who can get the players to improve is more important than our success on the field. I think we'll have so much talent in League 1, I think that still stands.

I don't disagree with much of that and what optimism I have for the new season is based on young players like Ashford, Davies, Robertson, Tanner and Colwill staying and playing to their potential at the lower level, but the players have to accept more responsibility for what happened in my opinion. The more experienced players showed little stomach for the fight and, in too many cases, were much worse than their reputation suggested they'd be, but the likes of Colwill and Robertson especially faded as relegation became a reality rather than a possibility and I think they've both played enough senior football now to be considered differently than, say, Ashford or even Tanner, who are still making their way in the game.
