Now, he might turn out to be a flop at his new job, but, as an intelligent and articulate former Cardiff player with stacks of lower league experience, you’d like to think he’d been discussed by Messrs Tan, Choo and Dalman if there is a serious intention of bringing more football knowledge into the club, but I wonder if they have any clue as to who he is?

Very interesting read that and an interesting career move. I've read a couple of things about him in the past, and know a couple of people who know him and speak highly.
And we follow a club that's in a complete vacuum. This club is going nowhere. It may win a couple of more games this coming season than it did last season, but imagine being able to read an article like that about the City.

From time to time I reflect on what do professional footballers do when they finish their careers. Not so much about the mega bucks players but the bread and butter guys especially from the lower leagues.
I was interested to read more about the PFA Business School. Some years ago there seemed to be a number of universities offering football related post graduate qualifications but it all seemed to me to be a bit gimmicky, jumping on a popular band wagon so to speak.
The PFA have two campuses, London and Manchester, where they operate their own programmes and are accredited by the University of Portsmouth ( a Top 10 ‘new’ University) who have an excellent reputation for providing students with a quality educational experience.
Joe Jacobson comes across as a very grounded professional person who has taken what he knows about football added the academic knowledge and has had the opportunity to apply this in a real world context.
IMO he and the Reading owners should be applauded.
Do you think they could have a word with Tan, Dalman and Choo before we face another season of dashed hope, disappointment about results and the spectre of Div. 2.

I still remember City’s first ever home game as an Academy club back in 2004. The likes of Joe Ledley and Cameron Jerome, who both became first team regulars within weeks were playing, but I thought Joe Jacobson was the best player in the City team. We remained the biggest club he played for, but I’d say he had a great career and I’d guess no City Academy graduate has played more first team games than him.
Based on what I’d seen and heard from him during his playing career, I’m not too surprised by what he’s doing now and it wouldn’t come as a shock at all to succeed in his new career.

Yeah, used to post as H. He was also on City’s books as a teenager.

We will see how he does but reading like derby are examples of clubs who very recently national media were wondering if they'd even finish their seasons. Yet both are now in a much stronger place than us off the pitch and I'd swap with both instantly.
I often see people here say we must be the worst run in the UK. I don't necessarily disagree but at the same time maybe tan would do us all a favour if he did just stop funding everything and pull out? Yes would be panic and bucket collections and rivals would be sending best wishes etc.....but we'd come through stronger. Something has to give soon.

Coming through it stronger could take a longtime. Think of clubs like Southend and Scunthorpe. I'm sure there are others.
