Surely it's time for Jones to come out and say where he wants his future to be...

Maybe he has done in private but without offending either club, there must be a form of words that ends the farce.

it must be galling for Charlton that he hasn't confirmed he wants to be in the Championship with them - the fans there will turn on him soon.

Just noticed the time on this board is running an hour slow - bit like the football team

I don't think he needs to. He's mentioned 3 times a year when we want a manager.

I think it's ok to assume he's happy where he is unless we stump up the compensation to officially contact him. That's assuming there's any truth in any of it anyway.

    It's all speculation anyway.
We had a much publicised route of how a shortlist would be arrived at and interviews carried out. Did Jones actually apply for the job or have the club ignored their own process and approached him separately?
If he really wanted to come here and if it comes down to paying compensation to Charlton, then he can probably afford to pay it himself having left Luton and Southampton mid-contract.
Its all a pathetic mess and no-one should be surprised it is.

o don't think he should. what if he comes out and says he wants to leave Charlton and then we can't agree a fee with Charlton and the move breaks down. that might sour the whole season for him there

I'm sure if we really wanted Jones, he would have been here when Riza was appointed

At this point, I'd be very surprised if it wasn't him. What other reason could there be for the silence other than that a deal is being worked out?

I bet he doesn't want to be there and will probably be sacked by March; he'd probably rather be here. The fact that he hasn't said anything points to him wanting to come if a deal can be reached.

It's all rubbish and NJ doesn't feel he needs to respond to rumours of him joining multiple times a year.

why should he, the onus falls on the club to inform the fans of their intentions.

Because I'm should imagine that Charlton fans would like to know their manager is committed to the club.

If it was the other was around, I'd want to know the bloke that just got us promoted is sticking with us. And I'd expect to hear something to that effect from the manager or the club. Wouldn't you?

Didn't he say something like that - committed to club, looking forward to Championship - when they won promotion?

He might be persuaded to change his mind (he's done it before) but for now that is surely enough. I don't expect anyone to keep repeating himself in response to rumour, speculation and football silly season noise.

Maybe everyone who has been interviewed has turned down the offer of being the next Cardiff manager.

This is what I think has happened. Someone will be desperate enough to take the job though. Doesn’t Rooney want to get back to managing soon?
