    Trust message re Manager Recruitmen

Sent out to members this morning.

“It is a matter of considerable concern that there has been no formal communication from the club to fans in respect of where we are in appointing a new manager.

Since the season ended at Norwich on 3 May fans have learned via Wales Online that Sports Agency Wasserman had been engaged to assist in the recruitment process along with Mark Allen, a former Swansea City Sporting Director. Of course, at the Fans Advisory Board (FAB) meeting on 12 May these issues were discussed. However, as the Club did not publish the minutes until 23 May (11 days after the meeting and not the promised 48 hours) it was a bit late to be told the bare minimum that the process had already started (prior to 12 May) and that the end of May was the target for appointment which has now come and gone.

Looking at the news on the club website since the club statement regarding relegation on 29 April there has been no mention of manager recruitment. What appears to be an information vacuum is being filled with rumour, betting odds from bookmakers and social media and press speculation but nothing official from the club. Fans are very concerned about the appointment of a new manager in our new situation in League 1. Given the club’s poor handling of the manager’s position in 2024/25, getting it right for next season, set against a background of the promised root and branch review, is a bigger priority than ever.

Fans don’t expect confidential information on specifics of who, when and where that might compromise the process but at least letting them know officially where we are in the procedure and updating of timescales would go a long way to quelling concerns. Even a sentence or two from the club to say that the recruitment is proceeding but we do not want to jeopardise the process would be helpful. The club appears to be its own worst enemy in this respect and its silence only fuels negative speculation that impacts upon themselves.

The club have gone some way to filling the football expertise gap in appointing external consultants to assist in the recruitment process, however, it is reasonable to say that the fanbase still has reservations that Vincent Tan will embrace any recommendation that they may come up with and put in place a decision based on his own special kind of footballing expertise.

“We hear you” said the club in its statement of 29 April, well, we are not hearing you.

what do people expect, when I look at the staff involved with our club, they've all been there for years. most don't have a clue and there's no direction from the top. all they are worried about is losing thier jobs. it's a shambles from head to toe!

    Did make me laugh

they wouldn't want to jeopardise season ticket sales by informing the fanbase that they haven't a clue who will be managing the team next season.

also, having a former Swansea director in charge of potential recruitment seems a little counter-intuitive.

If it's the Mark Allen I'm thinking off, isn't he a Llanrumney boy? Appreciate the Swansea connection but not sure he is a died in the wool Jack as such.

Nothing quite says a club that's run by part time staff like a half hearted attempt to hire a manager.

We aren't exactly attacking league 1 are we!

There are a lot who agree with you.

I see plenty wrong with it.

A youth team keeper with no pro career.

    Coached in New Zealand.

Managed Mumbai City then took over 2nd placed Oxford who slipped from the autos but won the play offs.

    Sacked early next season.

I just don't get why hes so popular.(with some)

Wasn’t going to reply to any of these new manager threads as i’m at the autumn stage of my Cardiff City supporting days.
But **** me. It’s getting to a soul destroying level that supporters on here are so ****ing desperate for the tiniest titbit.
We’ve never signed a dynamic, exciting manager in my 47 yrs of following the club, so it’s not going to happen now. Especially as we are in the 3rd tier.
It’ll be who it’ll be, and that will be that.
Stop pissing your pants over it and stop stressing over it.

I see the club have sucked you dry of most of the enthusiasm you had for the club aswell. A few previous appointments have been met with some relative excitement, but there wasn't a message board at the time (other than Malky and Warnock maybe).
It's the off season and there's nowt else to whinge about. Maybe Eric can come along and post some stats on how long the club hasn't had a manager, just to keep us going.

Re: Trust message re Manager Recruitmen

There's a lot of work for a new manager to do so hope they get on with it. I gather that our useless USA goalkeeper wants to leave, Alnwick linked with being the number 3 Newcastle goalkeeper(according to Talk Sport today), Robinson wanting to leave and a few others whose contracts expire at the end of the month and Ramsey still wanting to play even though he's so injury prone no one else will have him are all matters that need immediate attention as well as recruiting replacements. By the time Tan makes up his time the only option that might be left for him will be to go down the tried and untrusted route of hiring within the club which would be a huge mistake. I just hope they will get on with it.

    These statements mean very little.

The trust should organise a protest for the first game of the season. Make the club sit up and take notice and it would get more publicity in the media if it is the trust setting up and running the protest

Where will they march from? The Trust members are so old they can barely stand up unaided let alone march in protest.

Don’t have to march from anywhere. Can be a protest where fans arrive in their seats 10 minutes late for a game live on Sky. A protest outside the main reception. A tennis ball protest for a sky game.

Plenty of options to add pressure to the board via negative publicity

Turn up 10 minutes late? Would anyone notice? Half the Canton turns up 10 mins late from the concourse after they’ve finished their beers and powdered their nose.

    You’re a beauty. Fair play.

If everyone did it then yeah it would obviously be noticed. Highlighting the pissed up youth element of our support turning up 10 mins late and going back down on 30 minutes for a quick dismissal doesn’t change that but you know that anyway. Keep talking down protests and standing to attention for Mr Tan ! Fans like you are why he’s been here so long

Perhaps he’s been here so long because no bugger else is willing to lay the money out to buy him out. Has anyone ever suggested a legitimate, 100%, genuine prospective buyer who has the money to buy Tan out and also a decent pot to take us forward? ‘Tan out’ protests are all well and good but protesters should make sure they’ve got a viable alternative. If you have, please put the name or names forward, to be a seller (which many of us would like Tan to be) you need a buyer.

This argument is flawed. Why would the average fan know who is waiting in the wings to take over? One thing you can guarantee is that if Cardiff City was up for sale for a realistic price then you would have people wishing to take over.

You only have to look at other clubs that are bought such as Reading. We wouldn’t be short of a buyer but expecting the average fan to be offering a name is baffling !

I’d imagine every club in the land is up for sale at the right price from billions of pounds to thousands of pounds. Of course I don’t expect the average fan to offer a name off the top of their heads but other clubs have been in the frame to be sold and potential buyers have been quoted in the press by name. There’s been unrest at our club for a good few years but I can’t recall any legitimate buyer being touted about.
Under past regimes we’ve had various potential buyers named, David Sullivan’s brother, the Guernsey chancer etc, yet under Tan despite fan mumblings & grumblings over a fair while I can’t recall any legitimate buyer being touted about. Not saying the above I’ve mentioned were legitimate candidates but they were named as possibility’s however pie in the sky.
