Good win. Carlson and Smale were fantastic. Can't remember a time where we chase 180 odd so easily

Agree - really positive and well managed chase. Such a good bounce back after Surrey. And that’s the frustration - as good as last nights chase was what a chance wasted on wed as that chase was equally bad. Onwards and upwards. Big game coming up v a good Sussex side next.

A very good chase after messing up in the week, yes. It probably helped that rain was forecast, they had to be positive from the start to keep ahead on Duckworth-Lewis and they kept that momentum going for the whole innings.

I thought we'd done well to restrict them to 183 too. It looked like the game was slipping away from us a few times when they batted but we kept at it, came up with wickets at key times and fielded well again. By contrast, Essex were ragged under pressure (although the catches that got Kellaway and Carlson out were superb).

Entertaining game and a good win. There wasn't a big crowd there but it's always a nice buzz walking out of a stadium after a win. I can still remember that feeling from City games although I'm probably showing my age a bit there.

well that was a pretty poor bowling display v Sussex. hopefully the batting is better!

    Re: GLAMMY

I thought we did well to pull them back , but then bringing Douthwaite back on just gave them all their momentum back. Going along ok so far in the chase, think Carlson owes us some quick runs !

It was awful. The game has gone and the only thing to try to protect is the run rate in the table.

    Re: GLAMMY

It’s great that Labuschagne is so committed to Glamorgan, but all him playing for us this year has done is get Colin Ingram out of form - first baller for him today when he was in the runs before Marnus arrived. I think we look a lower half side on paper in this format and we’re mid table at the moment - if we could maintain that, we might qualify.

Tribe continuing the good impression he’s made this season mind.

    Re: GLAMMY

Well that was very disappointing. On the positive side Timm bowled well again, he's having a great season. Not sure what happened with Smale, looked in good nick then suddenly couldn't lay bat on ball, his dismissal to a slow full toss has to be seen. Hopefully beat Essex in the week to get back on track

Quite a game going on at Lords for the World Test Championship- just past tea on the second day and it’s Australia 212 and 73-7 against South Africa 138.

    Re: GLAMMY

Great so far from glammy. Set up well by the top order. Lost wickets in a club and I got a bit worried, but Cooke stayed positive and kept us ticking, then Douthwaite and timm finished us off well. Good start to the bowling innings, got essex 3 down.

I think this would be a huge win if we can finish it off. Essex have been rubbish, but they are a good side on paper. Big we can beat them, followed by them hitting a hot streak it would be huge for our chances.

Timm goes under the radar a bit . But his all round game the last 2 years has been insane. Probably not a better domestic T20 player around

Why did he just give Gorvin a 2nd over?

I guess because him and Douthwaite will bowl 2 each

2 big games sat and sun will begin to shape whether we are in touch with top 4.

    Re: GLAMMY

The main thing I took away from last night's match was how poor Essex were - they've now lost five from five and two of our wins have came against them with the other one coming against Middlesex, another one of the three teams in danger of falling too far behind the rest even at this early stage iof the competition.

When's the Australian all rounder we signed going to be fit again? With the exception of In gram in the Championship and Fernando towards the end of his spell with us, our overseas players aren't contributing much this year

Good signing, control with the ball and further lengthens a deep batting order. Welcome home!

Somerset just beaten Gloucester. Makes it 5 out of 5 for Somerset, and 4 out of 4 for Glos.

Middlesex got a tie at Hampshire tonight and, while it feels there's something not quite right at Essex, they're still a dangerous side as they've shown tonight. We deserve credit for both wins against them. Batted well, took wickets at key times and were very lively in the field. Tribe's catch just as Cox was going through the gears last night might have saved things getting a bit messy.

A couple of things from the Sussex v Essex game tonight. Looks like Tymal Mills got injured, he only bowled five balls. Also, Paul Walter walked for an lbw which is always funny to see.

Aneurin Donald got 73 off 34 balls for Derbyshire tonight, with five 6s. I wonder if he'll end up back here one day?

We were good against Essex, but I thought it was a little like a Third Round FA Cup tie where, say, a Championship team visits a non league side, endures a few awkward moments, but wins comfortably enough in the end.

Our next two matches will tell us a lot

Chris Cooke can’t go on for ever, so maybe we could bring Donald back as a keeper - although, that’s a role that seems to have been Horton’s for the taking since we gave him that long contract when he was 16 (realistically, Smale’s emergence as well means that Cooke’s replacement is already at the club).

Looked like Essex were on for a big victory, I'm going to take the blame for the rain, I'd bet on an Essex win!!

Not sure if Donald plays much long form cricket nowadays, but nice to see him doing well. As long as him and Lloyd are quiet if we play them.

Sussex again. McAndrew again. 11 wickets against us in 8 overs. Bloody hell. We needed 40 off 4 with 5 wickets left. Douthwaite gets out. Game over. We win one, we lose one.

    Re: GLAMMY

We’re your typical mid table side - beat the teams below you and lose to the ones above you. We might manage to scrape a fourth place finish, but anything higher than that looks beyond us.
