180 pounds for last season, what will be the charge this time around...
How much revenue does Cardiff City TV generate, I mean how many people living overseas actually buy a TV season pass?
Actually, it may have been $180 for me, not pounds.
It's partly why I'm interested in this year's cost but also how many people are there who live overseas and buy the service - I can't imagine there's many, not enough to make it viable for the club?.
On the other hand, it might be a money-maker for the club if, living in the UK but not close enough to attend games in person, Bluebirds fans can use a VPN and buy the service. Is that possible, does the club know and just turn a blind eye?
I more than got my moneys worth from it last year being back in Europe, by far the most I've watched City since leaving for Uni. This year being back in the US it probably works out as break even, 9am for a weekend game is a good start to the day and even the midweek games I can throw on in the background more often than not.
Can't imagine we'll be on Paramount+ much if at all this year. Even Birmingham only had 3 games last year and Americans knew who they were because of Tom Brady. Somehow we were the third most in all of the EFL after Wrexham and Leeds. The majority of L1 teams only had 1 or none at all, even "bigger" clubs like Bolton and Huddersfield.
180 does seem steep.
I lived abroad from 2010 to 2023 and used to just buy the day packages - never the season ticket. Reason being more often or not I could find the game on some kind of satellite station or online. For some of that period I also maintained a proper season ticket that we shared among the family and I would use when I visited.
I still travel for work quite a bit and I miss 1/3 of home games so rely on streams etc.
Another problem I had with TV season tickets is not all games were covered - also in India, more often or not, the online stream on CCTV wouldn't work due to licensing issues.
Last year for me was 140 pound early bird before 23rd July then up to 180 pound. Had to buy the preseason friendlies separately though and some weren’t available.
