Thread: Do you believe them?

    Do you believe them?

Over on another board it's being claimed that the Gareth Bale American consortium have made a 'very generous" offer for the club, while on Twitter a certain pine salesman is saying that an offer of £85 million was made yesterday and that it's being reported in the Malaysian media that Tan wants £135 million.
Is it all true? Who knows, but £85 million seems like an overvaluation to me - I'm no expert, but I'd be amazed if Tan got an offer higher than that.

The thing for me is the original poster has clearly not written that themself so it would be good to know who it has come from as them it would be easier to establish legitimacy

However they are ramping up the posts re this and other areas to show their dislike of tan - not sure how much traction message boards have but certainly the presence of this story a few weeks ago in the national media helps the debate so be interesting to see if this new story makes it there at all in the next couple of days

I'm willing to believe that Tan wants in excess of £135M, far more than the club is worth. In his mind, he wants all the money back that he's put in.

    Re: Do you believe them?

Bear in mind any bid may not be for 100% of the shareholding (which I don't think Tan owns anyway), this will be for a controlling stake i.e. over 50% no doubt, which could potentially could value the club higher than £85million.

The two sources putting this out means this is probably attention seeking guess work anyway.

    Re: Do you believe them?

how much is our club worth ? ?

Nice stadium ( and it is ) Training and Academy grounds, if you were to look at what we have, its decent

but we are a league one club now, but with potential if things are doing right to be back in the championship / prem league

but how much does potential cost ??

    1. It's one sentence.
    2. There's no gullibility involved.

Ive searched a few online Malaysian newspapers for articles about Cardiff and Vincent, and nothing comes up.

    Re: Do you believe them?

you'd have thought that Tan would accept 85 million if he wanted out. unless of course he thought he could get more.

I don't think any of us think the club is worth that much.

tbh given the source it doesn't seem very likely

    Re: Do you believe them?

I was reading that the club is valued between £35-50 Million, the problem as I see it (from the perspective of me wanting Bale and co. to buy the club) is I think Tan will genuinely believe he can get us back to the Prem himself and sell for higher.

    AI came out with:
"Cardiff City FC’s realistic sale value in 2025 is £25–£40 million, primarily due to its significant debts, ongoing financial losses, and dependence on owner backing, despite the high value of its stadium asset"

Tan has a financial interest in some of the media over there. During the rebrand debacle I wrote to the Malaysian newspaper 'theSun' [sic] only for a journalist there to hint that he knew of the situation but wouldn't be able to get involved.

Jesus of course not, Fantasy Island wasn't true either

    Re: Do you believe them?

It’s wishful thinking expecting Tan to be lowballed on his valuation of Cardiff City.

I may be over optimistic on our player’s value, but I think Tan could sell Robertson, R.Colwill and Salech for £15m right now.

Does that mean the lower estimated value of the club drops from £25m to £10m?

It’s obvious these constant threads are aiming to stir up unrest across Cardiff City supporters in an attempt to create some sort of hostile takeover by fuelling growing protest at Vincent Tan. It won’t work.

    Re: Do you believe them?

The other board is busy with too many people ITK (in the know) and a great number who think they are more than what we all really are just supporters.

Vincent Tan, in my opinion, would not sell to realise a substantial loss. In his eyes the club is only two season's away from being a premier league club and all that entails and brings. So if he believes goalkeepers should score more goals (!) is he likely to turn a paper loss into a real loss just so the fans latest favourite local hero has a potential bid accepted?

Some fans are fed up with Bellers, Rambo and Bale all touted as having only one football love in their lives CCFC. When in reality it is not true, all were born within the locality but all made their fame and fortunes many miles away. Only one actually put in a real shift in a Cardiff shirt, and even he helped us lose a Cup Final!

    Footballers are not fans.

    Pure bunkum.

    Re: Do you believe them?

It's possible. However, I don't really see how Tan could turn down £85m. It's far more than the club is worth. And I can't imagine that even he would think there would be a better one elsewhere.

    Re: Do you believe them?

Is it possible to believe in a guy who once said “ If ever I find out if Sam had anything to do with Langston I will never speak to him again “ ?. Is it possible that Tan has a hot line to the Balearics to discuss Cardiff City before making decisions or is his communication data hacked?. The sycophantic morons on the other board certainly think so!!

reminder that the same guy a couple of months ago supposedly had the inside track on a Malaysian billionaire buying the club from Tan. which ended up being bollocks

No, what you got to understand with AA and his followers (mods) is that AA pushes an agenda out, they they all back him him. he then speaks to the mods so they can push stuff out so they look like they are in the know. sad lot really.

The question here is what that figure includes. The club is worth £35m absolute tops. So basically, £85m is £35m for the club itself, and £50m towards the debt. Tan clears the rest (£67m of the debt). If that offer is genuine, it certainly offers Tan a way out, but lumbers the club with a debt that the new consortium might not be so casual about.

    Re: Do you believe them?

I wonder whether it is possible for Tan to offset his losses against tax. Without knowing the Malaysian tax system it is I suppose impossible to tell but it's just a thought that his losses might be mitigated if some kind of tax relief was available meaning he could afford to take a loss.
