When I first moved to work up there the company put me up in a B&B a couple of streets away from the ground.
Burslem is one of the northern most of the 6 towns. Very Victorian, Industrialised area, Coronation St. streets. Both Burslem and my time staying there reminded me very much of a typical Valleys mining town. Robbie Williams & R.J.Mitchell territory.
I eventually moved to Newcastle under Lyme, much more up market
close to Phil Taylor’s pub.
When we exited our last game up there, I remember this young, local, lad asking his dad what a sheep shagger was!
