Thread: GLAMMY

    Re: GLAMMY

A day where you can understand why there are people who don’t get cricket. The Glamorgan innings meandered along after lunch in the face of negative tactics by Gloucestershire and they showed no desire to for the batting bonus point at 400 which should have been well within their reach. You’ve only got to look at the scores elsewhere to see that playing with Kookaburra ball in conditions which are a long way removed from what England will face in Australia is doing nobody any good.
Maybe, I’ll end up looking a fool tomorrow, but it looks like a banker draw to me with the consolation being that Leicestershire have lost already and Derbyshire are still second best in their game.

I was there yesterday and as a county cricket lover the best part of the day was lunch and a few beers in the old Mochyn-Du.

Agree. I didn't understand why they didn't kick on to get the 4th batting bonus point. Really odd. Looks like a nailed on draw.

It was as if they thought denying Gloucestershire a bowling point was more important than getting an extra point themselves and in the end, they did neither - generally speaking a sport is in trouble when you get captains making decisions like that.

    Re: GLAMMY

I can’t understand what they were trying to achieve yesterday apart from sending home a bored group of spectators. Perhaps they wanted to put Gloucestershire out of the game but there was more attractive ways of doing that than crawling around getting nowhere.

    Re: GLAMMY

whatever it was they achieved nothing, was an awful session to watch

    Re: GLAMMY

    good start so far 49-2

    Re: GLAMMY

80-2, Crane absent with an injury which I hope wasn’t sustained when pointlessly batting at the end of our innings.

    Re: GLAMMY

212-6, 5 wickets for Kellaway. The injury to Crane could be crucial.

    Re: GLAMMY

Match drawn, good effort by Glamorgan and a great effort by Kellaway to take six of the seven wickets.

    Re: GLAMMY

Really missed crane. I wonder if we’ll be referring back to this come the end of the season.

    Re: GLAMMY

Only 2 points behind Derbyshire now

I think Derbyshire hanging on here with nine down is the game that could be season defining - we were lucky to get away with a draw at Bristol during our poor start to the campaign, so I reckon that evens out yesterday.

It really should be one point - still can’t understand our attitude on Tuesday when it looked almost deliberate that we weren’t chasing a fourth batting point.

Glouc being 50 behind instead of 50 in front late on yesterday could have made a difference and piled on the pressure. Glam wasted so much time with the bat, I’m not sure what the plan was.

    Re: GLAMMY

Really weird scorecard for England in the test match today - 407 all out with a 158 and 184 not out as Brook and Smith put on 302 and 6 ducks that took up a total of 15 balls! For a second consecutive test, the game is there for India to win.

    Re: GLAMMY

It's not so weird when you look at the first Test - India's innings were dominated by 2 big scores too.

It's a great series. Quality batting everywhere. But not sure which batsman is going to click next, apart from Gill.

Bob, what did you think of the late call for a review which seemed to be completely missed by the umpires? Another new cricket controversy, avoided by the review going England's way.

    Re: GLAMMY

A Glamorgan innings that looked like never getting going has been saved by some huge late hitting by Douthwaite. Douthwaite himself looked scratchy to start, and was dropped on 2 by banton. Kellaway, Ingram and Douthwaite doing the bulk of the scoring. 176 posted, Somerset favourites but we are in with a chance

Bowling well, going to be a close finish!

    Won by 2 runs 😄

    Re: GLAMMY

Great win, Douthwaite and Leonard were absolutely super . Very questionable decision by Carlson to bowl Kellaway when the seamers were going well. But all in all, a brilliant team performance. Our first win at Taunton since 2017

    Re: GLAMMY

I have been impressed with Douthwaite this season. He has been much more consistent and bowling in the right areas. An outstanding win.

Not questionable at all imo, he almost always bowls an over or two so it's a preset plan and you need 6 bowlers in the mix to give you room to adjust nearer the end if needed. Their whole bowling plan is about variety, I think it's why they have Gorvin coming off a shorter run, he looked tidy until he started putting it wide of off (on purpose but getting it a bit wrong it looked like).

Massive win considering the players they were missing there. Not sure what the thought process was in dumping Horton in at 3 but he did okay and kept well. Leonard really upped it tonight.

Yeah Horton played well, even Bevan had a couple of great efforts in the field as a sub.

    Re: GLAMMY

The fielding has been excellent in the blast this season. The younger players like Kellaway, Tribe, Bevan and Horton tonight have done well.
We may be seeing the changing of the guard behind the stumps. Chris Cooke has been a terrific servant but he is struggling a bit this season.
