I was quite astounded reading this, especially as Return of The Mack, stopped A Design for life being number 1 in the charts…not that The Manic Street Preachers could or ever wanted to be associated with Britpop, they certainly benefited from the zeitgeist.

I think that African Bluebird is, like many ashamed of where they come from and of those who grew up in predominantly white areas and celebrating anything positive from it.

It’s a load of sanctimonious clap trap is what it is. There were loads of females in bands in Britpop. There were female leads, all female bands and the girls were just as big as fans of the mainstream Britpop bands like Oasis, Blue Pulp. Etc as the boys. Blur even sang about Boys and Girls ffs

And if he wants to talk about misogyny there’s no more misogynistic and male aggression than from the rap culture of that era, which was dominated by the blacks who Britpop apparently held back.

I've seen the clip doing the rounds of Acqueisce (as in the professionally recorded clip, not on someone's phone) and, fair play, they sound excellent.

Whatever you think of Oasis they can't be accused of phoning it in - unlike a lot of bands who've been doing comeback tours recently.

DonÂ’t ever recall them playing the Ice Rink. They played the CIA in March 96. The night I went Liam cut the gig short after about half an hour as he was supposedly unwell. Then he was in the window in Jurys and the fans were singing back and forth to him. I wasnÂ’t. I was tamping having just paid treble face value for a ticket off a scouser outside.

Was " lucky" enough to get two "premium" or some word similar in the ballot. £500 each . They were as far away and as high as you can get from the stage .. the only thing premium was the price .. Few months ago I decided I wasnt that bothered and sold them through ticketmaster for the price I paid. Had a look last week and tickets were £200 odd, not cheap but much cheaper than mine.
Sounds like it was a good gig though.

Sleeper are playing the Tramshed in September. I saw them, think it was last autumn, play an acoustic gig at The Gate in Roath. They were excellent and Im glad they're doing a bigger tour this time around.
