Identity of other bidders for the club revealed?

This info follows on from similar claims made on social media and a message board yesterday.

Meanwhile, after being contacted by the Trust, all City’s rated Europe based Board members would say about the takeover talk was they would not comment on “rumours”! What a bizarre thing to say when you’ve got any number of media appearances by Gareth Bale in the public domain where he talks about bids being put in for the club. I’m not saying what Bale claims in the interviews is 100 per cent factual, but he’s hardly a rumour

I think the absence of any denial is more revealing. Anyway, based on the thread on the other place and the podcast I think it's pretty obvious that we're closer than ever to seeing the end of Vincent Tan's stewardship. The transfer window closes on 1st September. I'd expect a prospective buyer would indicate to Tan that any deal needs to be in place with time available to bring in new players. Here's hoping..

Yes, it is strange there has not been any official response / comment from the club to Bale’s quite open comments on purchasing the club

Quote from Johann Rupert from 2008 when he was linked to Newcastle:

“I have a preference for cricket and rugby. I don’t know anything about football and I’m not a football man.”

    Sounds spot on

    ChatGPT thinks it's this guy:

    John Thorrington

    - Born October 17, 1979, in Johannesburg

    - Moved to the UK for youth soccer, joining Manchester United’s academy.

    - Enjoyed a professional playing career in England before transferring to the U.S.—where he became a U.S. citizen, earned national team caps, and now is co‑president and GM of MLS’s LA FC

    - Through his executive position in MLS, he’s both wealthy and influential in U.S. soccer.

He does own Stellenbosch FC now though, although that could be more to do with supporting his home town than a love of football.

What does "caked" mean? Are they always covered in mud?

I’m not sure if you’re serious but it means they’ve got plenty of money. A whole cake’s worth.

Maybe they've been taking the drug that Brass Eye and various celebs were trying to stop: https://youtu.be/WwylBRucU7w?feature=shared

Didn’t find that in the slang dictionary I looked at - there was a reference to wearing too much make up.

When he said that I immediately thought of Chris Morris and Brass Eye.
But that was a hoax, hopefully this isn't.

We've come quite a way since Ricky Wright's Barry Butlins funded us

Does he still have a role at LA FC? I can see big problems ahead if we both want to compete in the Club World Cup given the rules on multi club ownership.

Tan had shares in LAFC for a while didn't he?

If, and it’s a big if, how long will it take, for new owners to take over if Tan sells up?

    6-12 months looking online.

Of course we don't know but due diligence may have already been done by a prospective buyer.

Chansiri has basically sold Wednesday in 2 weeks. It won't take that long as all our debt is to two men

It's not just about the debt though. Due dillegence will be done. (you'd have thought) that would take weeks alone.

Of course that could already have been done such is the silence from the board.

    Fit and proper EFL tests.

It's not going to be 2 weeks from start to finish.

Maybe we are already a few months into the process - who knows?
