This is a rapid run through a number of examples of Israel committing terrible war crimes against the Palestinian people. Starting with the shooting of Palestinians while approaching or queuing up for food in Gaza but mainly focusing on the West Bank touching on the ethnic cleansing of Masafer Yatta, the settler attacks that lead to arrests of Palestinians and the evictions of tens of thousands from refugee camps in Jenin and Tulkarm as well as the fears of many in Balata, the largest refugee camp in the West Bank.

The injustice is intolerable and yet the people of Palestine have little choice but to tolerate it; and our governments also tolerate it, rarely doing more than “condemn” these actions and often not even that.

We currently have a hysterical news cycle as well as pronouncements in Parliament and from the Chief Rabbi over some words uttered at a music festival that the Chief Rabbi had the gall to call “Jew hate”. Many people across the world are asking why Israel’s war crimes, some outlined below, seem to provoke far less reaction from those with the power to act than words and symbols. The double standards are in plain sight and the false allegations of antisemitism are having less and less impact on more and more people.
Why does no country stand up to this genocide?

Channel 4 showing 'Gaza: Doctors Under Attack' tonight - the documentary the BBC commissioned and then dropped.

More than 100 BBC journalists have now anonymously signed a letter, calling the choice not to broadcast Gaza: Doctors Under Attack a “political decision” that doesn’t reflect the quality of journalism in the film. The BBC, they say, is “an organisation crippled by the fear of being perceived as critical of the Israeli government”. The letter says the decision not to air this film came straight from the top, and many BBC staff – junior and senior – are unhappy with it. They feel it doesn’t reflect the organisation’s values, and that there was no acceptable editorial justification for delaying and then canning it. Some have been brave enough to voice this internally, but their concerns haven’t been heard.

This Starmer-led UK government is not Labour in spirit or practice, it is certainly not socialist. In its policies and actions. On Palestine, it can only be described as a genuinely reactionary and conservative government. Its complicity in Israel’s war crimes is not only because it knows of the wrong being done, but also because it is actively involved in perpetrating those crimes. Notwithstanding David Lammy’s statements, we continue to allow British-manufactured military parts to be bought or supplied to Israel for them to use in their illegal war of occupation. It is not as if there is any doubt as to how the weapons are going to be used – there are ‘reasonable grounds’ of suspicion being shown on the television every night.

Not content with this, we are an active participant in the military alliance against the Palestinian people. We provide military and security intelligence, we provide naval and military support, we allow trade and finance to directly bolster the Israeli regime and its colonisation by settlement of Palestinian land, we allow its war criminals to wander free, providing training to police and military.

Logic, international law, appeals to humanity, insults, pleas and petitions have all been tried, but all words have failed. Labour has lost its ‘sense of sin’, it has lost its moral compass – the difference between right and wrong.

Tony Blair’s thinktank worked with a project developing a postwar Gaza plan that included the creation of a “Trump Riviera” and a manufacturing zone named after Elon Musk.

The project, led by Israeli business people and using financial models developed by the US consulting firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG), was developed against the backdrop of Donald Trump’s vision of taking over the Palestinian territory and transforming it into a resort.

While the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) said it was not involved in the authorship of the plan, two staff took part in calls as the project evolved.

The staff also took part in a message group used for the project, along with figures from BCG and the Israeli business people, while a TBI document titled “Gaza Economic Blueprint” was shared within it, the Financial Times reported.

    Jewish Peaceniks demonstration in London:

    https://www.thecanary.co/trending/20...dmarsdn8syijsb

The group, Jewish Peaceniks, has “been curating events to oppose” Israel’s genocide against Palestinians. And in their latest action, they stood with placards highlighting that the number of children in Hampstead and Highgate is similar to the number Israel has murdered in Gaza.

"Israel has killed… over 18,000 children in Gaza"

"About 18,000 children live… in Hampstead & Highgate"

"Imagine… this area… with no children"

"Stand up! Speak out! With us… who as Jews… say ‘not in our name’"

Re: 40 Killed In Hamas Attacks In Israel

Just one more 'incident' amongst hundreds. So many that the world has become numb.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gd01g1gxro

At least 15 Palestinians, including eight children and two women, have been killed in an Israeli strike near a medical point in central Gaza, a hospital there says.

Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital said the strike hit people queueing for nutritional supplements in the town of Deir al-Balah. Graphic video from the hospital showed the bodies of several children and others lying on the floor as medics treated their wounds.

But no worries, because the IDF is reviewing the 'incident'.

Let me translate 'incident': mass murder, war crime, more civilian butchery from 'the most moral army on earth' (Bibi Netanyahu)!

Re: 40 Killed In Hamas Attacks In Israel

Palestinians continue to hold on to the practice we call sumoud – refusing to give up or leave – despite the world turning its back on us.

Over the past 21 long months of Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, voices all over the world have decried the demise of international law and the rule-based order. And indeed, the facade of Israel’s adherence to international law has vanished and policies that constitute war crimes are now brazenly declared.

This week, Israel’s defence minister, Israel Katz, has shared plans to forcibly move Palestinians into a camp in the ruins of Rafah. Once they enter, they cannot leave. In other words, a concentration camp, which by definition is an internment centre for members of a national group (as well as political prisoners or minority groups) on the grounds of security or punishment, usually by military order. Michael Sfard, an Israeli human rights lawyer, was quoted in the Guardian as saying that Katz “laid out an operational plan for a crime against humanity”. Hundreds have been killed and thousands wounded trying to access food.

I have tried hard to understand the incomprehensible suffering endured by Palestinians in Gaza and how it is that most Israelis do not acknowledge their humanity. How are they able to show no remorse for what their army is carrying out in their name? I believe the seed of our dehumanisation was planted during the Arab-Israeli war in 1948. Palestinians were violently deprived of land, property and belongings in what we would come to call the Nakba (Arabic for “the catastrophe”), on the grounds that the land was God-given to the Jewish people. From that time, Israelis have been able to use Arab homes, lands and orchards without any feeling of guilt. The 7 October attacks were the starting point of the war, but Israel has been systematically degrading and dispossessing the Palestinian people for decades.

    ....

The “humanitarian city” Israel’s defence minister has proposed building on the ruins of Rafah would be a concentration camp, and forcing Palestinians inside would be ethnic cleansing, Israel’s former prime minister Ehud Olmert has told the Guardian.

Israel was already committing war crimes in Gaza and the West Bank, Olmert said, and construction of the camp would mark an escalation.

“It is a concentration camp. I am sorry,” he said, when asked about the plans laid out by Israel Katz last week.

The EU has been accused of a “cruel and unlawful betrayal” of Palestinians and European values after failing to take action to impose sanctions on Israel over the war in Gaza.

The stinging rebuke from Amnesty International, echoed by other human rights organisations, came after EU ministers meeting in Brussels on Tuesday declined to endorse any measures to sanction Israel over the brutal war in Gaza and endemic violence in the West Bank.

    -

Israel’s closest EU allies – Germany, Hungary and the Czech Republic – oppose sanctions, especially now Israel has struck the humanitarian deal with the EU. Hungary also continues to veto EU sanctions on violent Israeli settlers in the West Bank.

Even countries strongly supportive of the Palestinian cause, such as Ireland, have not called for any specific measures, but await proposals from Kallas. Only Spain has come out clearly for a suspension of the association agreement.

Agnčs Callamard, Amnesty International’s secretary general, said refusal to suspend the agreement with Israel “is a cruel and unlawful betrayal of the European project and vision, predicated on upholding international law and fighting authoritarian practices, of the European Union’s own rules and of the human rights of Palestinians”.

She added: “This will be remembered as one of the most disgraceful moments in the EU’s history.”

In an extraordinary act of remembrance and political opposition, more than 100 people from across Wales gathered at the Welsh Senedd on Wednesday 16 July to read – name by name – over 20,000 Palestinian children killed by Israel in Gaza since 7 October 2023.

    -

PSC Cymru is calling on the Welsh government and Members of the Senedd to:

    - Publicly acknowledge the scale and horror of what is happening in Gaza

    - Support a full and immediate arms embargo on Israel

    - Urge the UK Government to impose targeted sanctions

    - Take concrete steps at the devolved level to end Welsh complicity and uphold international law.

Wales has declared itself a ‘globally responsible nation’, and says “when doing anything to improve the economic, social, environmental and cultural wellbeing of Wales, it takes account of whether doing such a thing may make a positive contribution to global wellbeing”.

The groups say that now is the moment to show what that means.

Re: 40 Killed In Hamas Attacks In Israel

We, the signatories listed below, come together with a simple, urgent message: the war in Gaza must end now. The suffering of civilians in Gaza has reached new depths.

The Israeli government’s aid delivery model is dangerous, fuels instability and deprives Gazans of human dignity.

We condemn the drip feeding of aid and the inhumane killing of civilians, including children, seeking to meet their most basic needs of water and food. It is horrifying that over 800 Palestinians have been killed while seeking aid.

The Israeli government’s denial of essential humanitarian assistance to the civilian population is unacceptable. Israel must comply with its obligations under international humanitarian law. The hostages cruelly held captive by Hamas since 7 October 2023 continue to suffer terribly. We condemn their continued detention and call for their immediate and unconditional release.

A negotiated ceasefire offers the best hope of bringing them home and ending the agony of their families. We call on the Israeli government to immediately lift restrictions on the flow of aid and to urgently enable the UN and humanitarian NGOs [non-governmental organisations] to do their life-saving work safely and effectively. We call on all parties to protect civilians and uphold the obligations of international humanitarian law.

Proposals to remove the Palestinian population into a “humanitarian city” are completely unacceptable. Permanent forced displacement is a violation of international humanitarian law. We strongly oppose any steps towards territorial or demographic change in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The E1 settlement plan announced by Israel’s civil administration, if implemented, would divide a Palestinian state in two, marking a flagrant breach of international law and critically undermine the two-state solution.

Meanwhile, settlement building across the West Bank including east Jerusalem has accelerated while settler violence against Palestinians has soared. This must stop. We urge the parties and the international community to unite in a common effort to bring this terrible conflict to an end, through an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire.

Further bloodshed serves no purpose. We reaffirm our complete support to the efforts of the US, Qatar and Egypt to achieve this. We are prepared to take further action to support an immediate ceasefire and a political pathway to security and peace for Israelis, Palestinians and the entire region.

This statement has been signed by: The foreign ministers of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK. Plus the EU commissioner for equality, preparedness and crisis management.

The World Health Organization has accused Israeli forces of attacking its staff residence and main warehouse in the city of Deir al-Balah in Gaza. On Monday, Israeli forces entered the WHO premises and handcuffed, stripped and interrogated male staffers and family members. One WHO staff member remains in detention. So far today, Israeli forces have killed at least 43 Palestinians, including 10 aid seekers. Israel killed another 60 Palestinians on Monday. This comes as the Health Ministry in Gaza says at least 15 more people, including four children, have died due to famine and malnutrition over the past 24 hours. Michael Fakhri, the U.N. special rapporteur on the right to food, told Al Jazeera, “What we are seeing now in Gaza is the most horrific stage of Israel’s starvation campaign.” This is Moataz Harar, the head of the emergency department at Al-Shifa Hospital.

Moataz Harar: “Most patients admitted to the hospital recently are not suffering from war injuries but from severe malnutrition. Even some of our medical workers have fainted from lack of food. The situation is grave, but it’s not new. It’s just that the number of cases is rising rapidly lately.”
