    Pre season friendlies

Only just noticed Celtic beat Newcastle 4-0 yesterday. Both sides had very strong teams out.

    Re: Pre season friendlies

Apparently there was some trouble in Glasgow from the travelling support.

Must take a special kind of person to get up to mischief for a friendly.

You can't read anything into friendly results though. Probably jus a runout for Newcastle and something to prove for Celtic

Exactly, still the holders, aren’t we? Great trip but had a fall and broke a couple of ribs, pretty painful celebrating our great triumph.

10000 geordies in Glasgow all day.

There has to be a percentage of loyalist, Yaxley Lennon, cockwombles in the support?

    'No Surrender '.

I've not read of any trouble and normally twatter is ablaze with it, for even a minor scuffle.

That said, it wouldnt surprise me. For a few clubs now, friendlies offer a chance for huge away followings, often without the restrictions on numbers or points that limit other away followings. Rangers and Celtic often offer up that opportunity.

I seem to remember a little bother in town when Ajax came here, maybe 2009 or so, or I may be misremembering that?

I couldn't be less interested in friendlies now really. Ive been to a few over the years but a break from football feels most welcome in the summer nowadays.

Yes there was trouble for Ajax home and Swindon away way back when.

It’s two clubs that don’t play each other that often so take the opportunity to become acquainted with each other.

Cheers, wasn't sure if I created that memory.

I know I definitely did not create the memory of hundreds of people running from the Bob bank terrace to the empty seats to escape a thunder storm and downpour!

My memory is so poor that I don't remember much about the Ajax game. I remember their fans were good, travelled in numbers and then there's the infamous playing of Three Little Birds which has been synonymous with their fans ever since.

Didn't we do a pre-season double by lifting the Vans Direct Trophy? Strictly speaking it was shared with Ajax but they never got back to us over their share so it sits proudly in a trophy cabinet somewhere in CCS
