No disrespect to Marshall but, of the two, I always felt that Heaton was the better keeper and deserved to be number one.

Sorry, I disagree. During his 7 yr spell at City, Marshall was consistently the best keeper I saw in over 60 yrs watching the Club. His form never tailed off and he was the consummate professional. Heaton was clearly a good keeper, but Marshall's 264 appearances at City is testimony that managers gave him the vote over Heaton, too.

No need to apologise, Steve, it is all about opinions. Totally agree that Marshall is a club legend, that the managers preferred him and that he has a whole load more appearances. Just my view that Heaton was the better all round keeper and, perhaps under a different manager with a different view, would have gone on to outshine even Marshall's legacy.
