    25/26 League One Predictions.

Gab Sutton had us finishing 21st I think it was last season at a time when few were predicting we’d struggle, so I find his forecast for this season quite encouraging- think it’s fair to say he’s a fan of BBM.

F uck me, after reading what he says about the City, I think I’m watching the wrong team

Reading being severely underestimated here. I think they could get autos.

I think we’re gonna see the return of orgy football at Cardiff next season…

We’ll no doubt be hit with a few calamitous sucker punches like the late equaliser against
Johor but I don’t think I’d swap our front line and attacking midfield with any other League One side.

Mind you, maybe I don’t know enough about next seasons opposition.

Do you think that front line / attacking midfield is capable of 80 goals next season, cos that’s what we need to compete at the top. We’ve averaged 45-50 over the last 5/6 seasons. The successful sides in L1 have 5/6 striker options. I think we’re short of at least 2 strikers in addition to Salech, Robison, Davies & Etete

    80 goals. Easy! Why not?

I have a hard time seeing us make the play offs. We are not liked generally and lots of teams will want to beat us having been a championship and PL! side for a long time.

If we do not bring in a strong leader and a few fresh faces, we will be mid table at best. Not enough character in the squad to deal with pressure, despite BBM best intentions, they will not be up for it.
Luton and Reading to walk away with top 2 places.

"Meanwhile, they also have good defenders in Will Fish and Jesper Daland"

    News to me

Not the top 20 prediction. We’re one of the most interesting teams in the EFL it seems.

There are plenty of teams that fit that profile Wigan, Luton, Reading and Blackpool. I am quitely confident

I think we need maybe 4 in to even threaten the play offs.

yes, but they aren't welsh and with Wfc doing us no favours in that quarter we will be the ones to beat.

It's all about opinions at this stage but I reckon this squad would be in or around the bottom 4. If BBM is bringing in non-squad players from his PL contacts I doubt they'll have the necessary experience that's needed. I can understand the levels of optimism amongst some supporters because for the 1st time in living memory the club is building it's squad around emerging talent, but I have feeling that next Saturday and beyond are going to expose just how weak a team we are. Maybe with 4 decent signings we'll spend the season in mid table mediocrity, but I think many fans are setting the bar very low.

    Interesting.

My worry is the lack of depth in quality. A few injuries to key players and we'll be screwed.

WSC season preview reckons we'll finish 6th. (Each fan/correspondent from all the division's clubs predict the entire table and they work out the averages). Luton, Stockport, Plymouth, Bolton and Huddersfield ahead of us.

    Re: 25/26 League One Predictions.

The Racing Post’s ‘Big Kick-Off’ annual guide to the new season was published today. Their prediction for the League One top ten is:

    1 - Huddersfield Town
    2 - Stockport County
    3 - Luton Town
    4 - Blackpool
    5 - Bolton Wanderers
    6 - Wycombe Wanderers
    7 - Plymouth Argyle
    8 - Cardiff City
    9 - Leyton Orient
    10 - Reading

Their write-up on City reads as follows:

“Cardiff went down with a whimper last season, winning just 9 of their 46 Championship matches, and they haven’t made any new signings so far. New manager Brian Barry-Murphy, who previously worked with Manchester City’s academy, may be forced to nurture the club’s young talent. The Bluebirds could take time to adapt to League One alongside Plymouth, who are also under new management.”

The paper also contains the verdicts of a 14-man panel consisting of seven Racing Post tipsters and seven representatives of the biggest bookmakers. None of the fourteen picked Cardiff City as League One winners. Their selections are Stockport (7), Huddersfield (4), Blackpool, Bolton and Luton (1 each).

Seems about right to me. Unless we make a couple of experienced defensive signings I think we’re still going to concede a lot of goals even in this division. I also think we’ll be very inconsistent with some impressive wins followed by abysmal defeats. Think we’ll just fall short of the play offs but that may change with a few new signings

I cant see Etete being around, think it'll be bet for all parties that he goes out on loan

If we're not autos I will be surprised.

    Re: 25/26 League One Predictions.

A lot of people seem really keen on Huddersfield - and while I tihnk they've done decent business in the transfer window, I don't think anyone would be overjoyed with any of those signings if we had made them.
Alfie May has been a consistent goalscorer at this level for the last 4 years, but I wouldn't take him over Salech or Robinson, and he's 32 already.

The Not the Top 20 podcast says 6th, as does 442, although the fan who wrote the Cardiff bit (Ben from View from the Ninian) seems to be having a bad week and says 24th.
