Thread: England v India

  1. #1

    England v India

England getting their comeuppance after finishing off India seemingly cheaply.
Started the day like a steam train with Duckett and Crawley racing away in the first session with the commentary bazzball lovers waxing lyrical about the shot improvisation particularly from Duckett.
The afternoon session then swings massively to India with England still effectively behind and only two wickets left.
Great entertainment but it looks as though we'll be robbed of a couple of days cricket

Really hoping India save the series.

England give their depleted bowling attack a three hour rest before they’ve got to start again. Credit to India for some great bowling, but that was poor by England after the start they got.

    Re: England v India

That followed by a poor fielding display by England.
Three simple catches put down already by Brooke and Crawley (twice).
On the plus side it stretches the match!

Dawsons in normal conditions was really simple.

I think they are having trouble with the red ball under the floodlights.

Not impressed with the behaviour of some of the Indian players, seem desperate to win at all costs.

India have only started to be stroppy after Crawley’s antics in making sure the England openers only faced one over that evening at Lords (a situation brought on by weak umpiring I feel),

England should win the Ashes this winter as long as Stokes and McCullum wise up.

Earn the right to attack. Cut out the ramp shot and FFS bat 1st.

    Re: England v India

I've always found India to be one of the "fairer" teams but recently there has been an increasing amount of "sledging".
Siraj (the bowler of the series thus far) is a "very emotional" character as the commentary team keep pointing out and has been pushing the boundaries.

Duckett took a fair amount of abuse during his innings and when he was dismissed, the bowler had his arm round Duckett as he walked off which I thought was out of order.
I agree with Bob though that the umpires have allowed a bit too much to go unpunished.
I suspect this will be handbags compared to what will happen in the Ashes this winter.

Should be another enthralling day today... the Lions

    Yes
I didn't mean to infer it was Siraj I just couldn't remember Akash's name and couldn't be arsed looking it up.

Sky won't mind all the shenanigans, in fact they encourage it.
The Ashes "games" have already started with Nasser Hussain (I think it was) showing Stuart Broad, who was commentating, an Aussie paper sledging Broad for his "antics" last summer.
I think we all just have to accept that Test cricket isn't what it used to be.

Absolutely feckin pathetic Crawley. Easy catch.

    Re: England v India

The Deep/Duckett onfield chat had a bit of history about it. Some time ago Duckett has told Deep that hed never get him out, so the chat was a gentle reminder of that.

Wonderful cameo from Washington at the moment. Just got his fifty with a fantastic six.
Last wicket piling on the runs and India 372 ahead.

Crawley eventually takes a catch LOL.
    England 374 to win.

50-1 at the close, reckon India are favourites - they don’t deserve to lose the series.

I can quite understand why you watch cricket as ccfc fans....both are boring to watch

Missed the last half hour, Crawley out last ball wasn't it?

India are strong favourites. Chasing down 350+ in the final innings is still a huge ask, despite England's heroics in that regard in the last few years.

Is there no chance of them batting the day out without overhauling India's total?

    The draw is 33-1

There's 2 days to go Jimbo.

    Re: England v India

Game has swung hugely in England's favour now, less than 150 needed and still seven wickets.

Root has anchored the innings and just got his fifty with Brooke seeing it like a football.
India desperate to break this partnership and have been unlucky not to have taken more wickets, especially Siraj.

    Re: England v India

India get 1 of these out with with still 70 or 80 to get and its still game on.

Would Woakes bat if say 10 needed.?

Yes I think he does. I’m not old enough to have seen the famous occasion where Colin Cowdrey came out to bat with a broken arm against the West Indies with nine wickets down and three balls left. England got the draw without Cowdrey needing to face a ball and his injury was more serious than Woakes I’d have thought.

I think he will as well but hes clearly got a bad injury as hes an Ashes doubt.

Some terrible fielding there by India. Very lucky Kohli wasn't captain.
