You don’t know what sort of side Wolves put out, but, on the face of it, that’s a great result. However, as Bluebirdman of Alcathays alludes to, it’s been a really odd pre season for the Under 21s - they scored fourteen goals in beating a National League team from 2-0 down, a National League North team and now a Premier League side’s Under 21 team.
On the other hand, I’ve now watched the highlights of the game with Cambrian on Friday and, just like at Ammanford, there was barely anything that suggested we had a goal in us against what I would have thought were weaker teams than the ones we scored all those goals against - the highlights of the Cambrian game made it look like they were trying to suggest we got kicked off the park.
Highlights of the under 21s big win over Wolves now on the club site - on Friday an admittedly weaker team struggled to put together an attack worthy of the name if the highlights were a fair representation of what happened, yet they could have doubled their score yesterday.
Looking at the size of them, they didn’t look like a bunch of teenagers - some of the City players looked younger than them. Can’t see it was Wolves’ first choice team though because, as you say, they looked a bit disinterested- that said, that can happen when you’re in a team getting stuffed.
Telford Utd have signed Freddie Cook.
Under 18s lose 4-3 to Sheffield Wednesday after being 2-0 up.
Not expecting much from this afternoon's first league game of the season for the Under 21s. With the first team playing a few hours later, it'll be an under strength team in acrion against a Sheffield United side that is usually one of the strongest teams around at this level. Throw in expected temperatures of around 30 degrees and it's going to be very haed for uis to emulate their seniors by winning their first league game.
Kick off is at 2 o'cloc o clock, the game is at Leckwith and will be streamed free for supporters as usual.
Seems pretty strong

One or two there who I expected to be involved tonight - maybe that right back signed in the summer (O’Neil?) will be involved? I take it that’s Isaak Davies? Looks like Giles and/or Mafico will be involved.
Looking forward to watching Tankiewicz who can’t be much older than 16 or 17.
Yes, Wigley was involved in the pre season games wasn’t he.
Half time in the under 21s game and quite a bit to admire so far. 1-0 to City as their press worked to present Troy Perrett that the took very well. Sheffield United started the better, but City were on top in the closing stages of the half when Jac Thomas came very close to making it 2-0 - there’s also been a goal for City probably correctly disallowed for offside.
Finished 1-1, City had to do a lot of defending in the second half and a draw was the least the visitors deserved by the end.
Team for the under 18s game at Hull that kicks off in about ten minutes time.

U21s drawn against Stockport, Burnley and defending champions QPR in the Premier League Cup.
Papirnyk (2) and Walsh with the goals
A fair few new names to me in the u18 side

Here’s under 21 side that’s playing today at Crewe. It’s currently half time and someone’s Tweeted that we’re 1-0 up.

Same guy just said its 2-0 and is raving about Tankiewicz. Him and Perrett with the goals
Amazingly still feels like a reasonably young u21 side, Pearce the only one who is 21? Certainly seems more worthwhile than when we'd have a large group of players seemingly brought in to play for the u21s/23s at the top end of that age range
Not to make this in any way about me, because it isn't, but because you mentioned Crewe, it took me back to a three game pre season thing we did at Keel university many years ago. We played Aston Villa, Boro and Crewe. Crewe were by far the best side out of the three (u18s) We lost, but they battered us in terms of how they played the game. We beat Villa though. I always wonder who was playing in that Crewe side as they were producing some good players fron the late eighties up until the mid to late 90s.
