I felt we meandered at the back..then BOOTed it anyway. Theres always exceptions as with most matches but the amount of time we just floated the ball to the other keeper or centrebacks was a bit embaressing

Totally agree with you. I'm not sure if it was Dave Jones but he used to get the wingers to swap over quite often.

I might have the wrong manager but we have used this tactic in the past.

Kpakio 3 - full of praise in his first game..but this one? seemed bewildered at times..the few nice passes dont make up for his meandering
Chambers 1 - sorry..hes shit and nothing has convinced me otherwise
Lawlor 2 - marginally better than chambers..not a fail ..yet.
Bagan 4 - poor final ball at times and a bit unlucky with the yellow card i thought

    Wintle 5 - no frills

J Colwill 4 - did ok but his hacking away at the opposition is a bit naive and will concede more free kicks than win the ball
R Colwill 6 - the only person who actually looked confident on the ball and appeared could create a spark any moment. Just not used enough

Tanner 3 - im a big fan..but very poor and maybe shouldve been hooked sooner
Salech 3 - no idea how this kid is ahead of robinson..we need to bring Salach on for 10 minutes and start robinson
Willock 3 - i think hes under rated..unfortunately this is one of few games he has lived up to the criticism

    Subs

Fish 6 - no frills and brought some sorely lacking stability..just a shame it wasnt on for chambers
Turnbull 5 - shouldve started, clearly strong at this level
Ashford 3 - weak..im a hoper but in both games ashford has been a luxury player
Robinson 4 - nice touches but no huge impact in his very limited time on the pitch..
Davies - didnt touch the ball?

BBM 3 - not convinced. We just played against a newly promoted team from league 2 and made them look like Barcelona at times due to our caveman hoofball tactics
these are the kind of scores I'd expect if we'd lost 4-0 and been played off the park. Lets have a bit of perspective shall we.

Only Port Vales finishing was woeful it could and should have been a 4-0 type hammering. They completely dominated and outfought us from start to finish.

I watched the highlights, 2 minutes 40, i'm sure that it was compiled by a Port Vale fan because they showed 5 very good chances and not one of them was us.......

4 on Joel is harsh, I thought he might have been a 6, because he was the only player really getting stuck in and trying to fight for the ball. Probably the MOTM for us.

Trott made me clench whenever he had the ball at the feet, I was terrified the Vale attacker would rob him of the ball, and he was fannying around with it at times.

I don’t think 4 is harsh as he added nothing positive to the game for us, not that he was alone in that regard. Another one who was anonymous really and totally dominated by his opposite man.

He did put some effort in but his “getting stuck in” mainly consisted of him giving fouls away after their midfield had gone past him.

Luckily for him the ref was very lenient last night as he was consistently fouling, and there was one foul first half where he slid in and brought someone down on the edge of the box which is the sort of foul that gets you a yellow 9 times out of 10.

See the Tanner lovers have gone into reverse gear !

    Re: Marks out of ten.

He only made one save, because they only had one shot on target.
His long kicking was aimless, bang it up the middle. He almost got caught ****ing around twice in the first 20 mins.

You’re old enough to realise people can change their minds about a player from game to game. First game he was great, second game he was horrendous. Not hard to comprehend.

First game, he wasn’t great, but some people, thought because he seen a lot of the ball, he was great !

It’s what he did/done with all that possession (most of it wasted)

Apart from an assist , put one on a plate for Salech and almost score.

But lets replace him with a lower league animal.😂

Don’t use facts to back up your argument, there’s no place for that here.

The fella must have had 20 to 30 touches in the first half against Peterborough, out of that, he managed to put in ONE half decent cross

Take those rose tinted glasses off and wake up please

It's pretty obvious that the tactics when he gets it is not to stick crosses into the box straight away but to link play bringing in midfields and the full back.

The days of a big man little man win the header fox in the box are long gone.

Tanner played well Saturday. He was shit Thursday.

Oh and it was a great cross not half decent.👍
