Thread: Max Watters

    Max Watters

Don’t know if this has already been mentioned on this board, but former City striker (and I use the term loosely) Max Watters is currently on loan at Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership.

He scored against Falkirk on Sunday and against Rapid Vienna in the Europa Conference League last night. That sums up the strength of those two competitions.

He was a player who the fans seemed to hold out for when it was blatantly obvious that he wasn't a championship footballer.

He’s been sent out on loan by Barnsley, who are in League One with us. That says plenty.

No way of proving it obviously, but I think all the SPL teams would hold their own in English league 1.

I always felt the lad had some talent but attitude was the problem. I think heÂ’s good enough to play L1.

He got 12 goals and 6 assists for Barnsley in the league in 32 starts / 2842 minutes. Not too shabby.

Perhaps he is a late developer.

Chelsea won the Europa Conference league , they aren't a bad side ,didn't they win some other tournament in the summer?
Its a great competition for provincial clubs to play European games. (And Chelsea)

The football on display last night wouldn't survive in the Highland League if we are measuring standards.

Yet another in the very long list of "striker" failures at the City. We've had a fair few it seems over the years. Would be interesting to know how we compare against other teams on our striker failures/successes.

We’ve also had some brilliant strikers. (Just to balance things out)
Earnie, Chopra, Bothroyd, McCormack, Bennett, to name a few.

One of our ex loan strikers just scored what looks like the winner for St Johnstone at Ross Co in the SPL.

Joe Bennett was a full back Bill.

One of the most skilful players to ever put a City shirt on by the way 👍

You're right Bill, he was a winger in a 442

My all time favourite city player, closely followed by Whitts and Koumas.

Maybe it might have something to do with the way we play - our strikers don't usually get good service and playing one up front makes it very hard for our strikers. I used to feel very sorry for Kenny Miller running himself into the ground every week and in the last two games I don't think Salech has had many crosses to feed off.

Cohen Griffith was one of my favourites. Not for his ability, but for his efforts. 😁

He’s 26. Perhaps he is a late developer. Or perhaps he’s not very good.

As for the Europa Conference League being a great competition, do me a favour.

Never said he was. Tuerto was talking about his favourite City player. So was I. Keep up at the back. 👍
