Think one or two of the players brought in from other clubs this summer may be 20/21.
The goalkeeper Higgs is very young as well apparently.
BBM said something interesting last week when he said that quite often at clubs where you get a kind of golden generation come through like we had with the group that formed such a big part of the successful Wales under 17 squad, you then get a few quiet years when nothing much comes through, but it’s not like that here. It’s very encouraging that that the Welsh under 16 squad named last week had six City players in it.

Thanks Bob
First Welsh age group squad to qualify for a major finals tournament since the early 80s and they did it again in the next tournament. From memory, City supplied eight of the squad first time around and six or seven second time - there were also players like Biancheri, Crew and Benjamin who’d left us at 16 to sign for Premier League clubs in the first squad (not sure Biancheri was in the second squad).
Pretty much, though you could argue they were a golden generation for Wales youth by qualifying back to back, something Wales hadn't done at any age grade before. They then got close to the u19s Euros but got a very tough "Elite round" of England, Portugal & Turkey. As far as seniors goes who knows, the jump from youth to senior football is big at Cardiff & District level nevermind professional football!
They'll probably make up the bulk of the Wales u21 side for the next cycle at the least so we'll see if they can have an impact there and improve our dismal record at that level. That is if they're not involved in the seniors, Crew's been capped already, Lawlor, Kpakio & Kai Andrews all been in a squad
So we'll see. If we could get 4 or 5 regular internationals out of that bunch that would be very good going
This all started because I used the term “a kind of golden generation” as a simple way to summarise what BBM was talking about - i didn’t label it a golden generation. I won’t say he used the term himself because I’m not sure that he did. Whether he did or not though, it was incidental to the point he was making - when a club has a strong group of youth players in one year it can often follow that the groups which come through in subsequent years can be disappointing, but this isn’t the case at City.

Does anyone know what's happened to Giles, I'm assuming he's injured?
Anyone know why this has been moved to the Alt Forum? Can someone move it back?
This is an important football thread - it has no place in Cranks Corner - move it back
Games for the seniors, under 21s and under 18s today. The last named are playing a “derby” game at Wrexham, no news of any score yet.
