Was enthused about this until I read this article on BBC Sport this morning, hopefully he's far enough along in his recovery to make an impact
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football...s/cd6n1e1xpgno
The 19-year-old is nearing his return to playing having had corrective surgery on persistent hamstring issues in late March and is willing to drop to League One level to kick-start his career.
Kellyman has been limited to just four appearances in the Under-21s since joining Chelsea in a £19m deal from Aston Villa in 2024. He has also yet to play a single minute of first-team football at Stamford Bridge.
Signed!
At least we have plenty of matches coming up for likes of him, Robertson and Ng to build match fitness
Early days but if Trott is anything to go by we are in for a treat with Osho and Kellyman!
Looks good. Hopefully his injury problems are behind him.
“I like to make things happen. I like to be forward thinking and get on the ball as much as possible. I want to come here, get some goals and assists and help the team.
"I've been watching the recent games and it's been great to see the exciting players we already have. I'm looking forward to playing with the lads."
Nice little statement, players will be keen to join us we look a great prospect for loans, hopefully at least a left back to follow.
Based on his career so far he should be too good for League One (as should most of our squad), but then Leicester fans were claiming Will Alves was too good for the Championship.
What position does Kellyman normally play? Anyone know for sure? I was under the impression yesterday that he was a winger, but most reports I've read about him seem to suggest he's an attacking central midfielder. Left-footed, apparently.
Here we go Dave, some light reading for you. Let us know what it says

I shall get to work....
In this video when he joined Chelsea he says his best position is: "Attacking midfield, definitely. As a 10, sitting behind the striker."

And this was the report on his injury. Let's hope he's getting over it:

Some interesting stuff there. Mixed views on his levels of ability (to be expected), a firm belief that the fee paid by Chelsea was a 'PSR fudge' between the clubs and it seems he also was injured for a spell while at Villa (hamstring).
Although he has plenty to prove, this lad looks like he should definitely be a cut above League One - if he can get fit, which looks like a significant if. Hopefully, BBM will reveal soon where he seems him fitting into the side, as that's really interesting I think.
Wow 19m price tag,no pressure then.
Welcome 🙏
From Glen Williams on X:
Just watched Omari Kellyman's first interview. Said his preferred position is No.10, but he could also drift in off the right, too. Suspect he's unlikely to dislodge Colwill, so will likely see him on that right wing?
This lad is quite tall I think. The Villa fans on the thread Dan linked were talking about him needing to fill out a bit. This really is an interesting signing I reckon. All sorts of possibilities.
