    His replacement was Alan Warboys, a snip at Ł40k, but about 6 weeks later. In the meantime we dropped a few points, eventually missing promotion by 3 points.
    It would have been great to be a First Division team back then. Best, Law, Charlton, George, Osgood, Moore, Banks, Lee, Bremner, Lorimer etc etc. Attendances would have sky rocketed.

    We were getting 20 thousand + every home game, FA Cup games against division one opposition attracting 50 thousand odd. We had a 60 thousand capacity stadium, the plastic type supporter situation hadn’t really kicked in etc. It seemed everyone in the locality supported the City. A bit of foresight from our Fred Dewey led board could have kick started something massive, unfortunately Mr Dewey had other ‘limited’ ideas. What could have been eh!
