    Lawlor / WalesOnline own goal?

"Cardiff City defender Dylan Lawlor has declared that the Bluebirds are aiming to “annihilate” League One after their blistering start to the season."

In how many opposition dressing rooms will that be pinned up?

    Best to stay humble IMO

Would pinning anything on a wall help against a better side? I’d rather this attitude than the defeated before we took the pitch attitude we saw so often in recent years.

I’d prefer to direct the humble quote to some of our fans who already think we have won the league.

It just shows how fired up they are, that will be the talk behind the scenes, and was just given out due to inexperience with the media. It's got to be a good thing, really, that the squad is fired up and confident and looking to win the league; it's that mentality that gives us 97-minute goals.

Nothing wrong with a bit of confidence, why downplay things?

Footballers are, generally speaking, a pretty confident bunch coached by confident blokes trying to fire everyone up. Every club will be saying similar stuff in house

Anything that makes the opposition try harder (be more 'up-for-it') may impact results. I suspect BBM may have had a 'quiet' chat with him.

Note that Bellamy has told his Welsh players not to question refs decisions by holding their arms out, showing a lack of respect. This sort of positive refrain may prove beneficial in the long run.

When I managed / coached school teams, I always reminded the players never to question decisions. After many games the ref would congratulate myself and the kids for the respect shown.

It was said in the clubs pre match presser. I did see it briefly mentioned on the Stockport forum but I doubt it will get much further than that.

Not as if we have a Swansea or Bristol C looking to take the piss.

Plus maybe we will finish top, I quite like the positive talk for a change.

Isn’t the plan at every club to annihilate the league they’re in?

Probably not but WOL is part of a large UK media company. Football correspondents across the country will most likely trawl for anything relevant to the club they report on.

No, if people can’t be optimistic at the start of a season, when can they? The start we’ve made means that we can continue with the optimism into the second month of the season and, almost certainly, into the third. It’s the word “annihilate” that people are homing in on - if he’d said dominate, no one would’ve batted an eyelid.

I wasn't referring to us (we should be one of those clubs looking to win this league) i was referring to your suggestion that all clubs set out to win their league, which just isn't true. I'm not bothered about what Lawlor has said, i actually admire him for saying it and not giving a ****.
