I can't see how it works for competitive matches. I have a season ticket for the qualifying tournaments and Nations League. Surely this must be for high profile friendlies in the run up to the tournament should we be within the highest ranked home nations and Ireland to qualify.
I suppose if we got drawn against a big enough nation they either don't sell that game within the campaign ticket, or you get allocated a seat in an area deemed of equal value if they do include it.
Agree however, more likely to be a friendly. It would need to be England really to sell out.
There's some sense to it.
1 - it puts the national team front and centre in the city. You would be surprised how many people never know a game is on, unlike Welsh rugby games.
2 - it offers a chance to sell more tickets, at different price points to more people. Casually interested families, students studying here, casual fans who can't be arsed faffing about with memberships etc
3 - it's pretty likely we will be playing there at euro 28 so the odd game beforehand to get players used to it is a pretty wise strategy.
its just about money isnt it, lets be honest
I'm sure its a significant motivation, but clearly playing home games there in 2028 (if we qualify, which is likely) then it makes sense also to familiarise the players with the place.
Atmosphere is much better at CCS, I have no desire to see the main home ground move, but I can see their thinking here.
I didn’t realise that Norn Ireland are not considered a host nation. Assuming England finish top of their group then the best two of Wales, Scotland & Ireland will qualify. There are scenarios we’re, 2, 3 or all 4 hosts qualify.
Yeah they put all their eggs in the basket of renovating a GAA ground called Casement Park. It's in a right state as it stands (pretty much all open terraces) and was controversial because of associations with one side of the sectarian divide there - which was inevitable wherever they invested in really.
It's a shame they won't host games, but Windsor Park is just too small and that's the only other option really. Ulster rugby could theoretically have been expanded temporarily. I'm not sure whether that was considered.
**** that. Our glory days began at the CCS. It's home.
If they need the money to fill the coffers briefly to reinvest im happy to hold my nose.
They’ve built enough kudos for a payday
It just about makes sense to try and manufacture some home advantage out of euro 2028 (I don't think anyone would assume that we are guaranteed a place though).
The only good game I can think of there was the Italy game. Other than that my memory is that it was a soulless ,airhorn infested, bleak place for football games. The quality of football during the Toshack era is probably a large influence on that though.
If they want to go forward with this, then they have to learn from the Spain game.
At CCMB everyone knows their place (stand) and the atmosphere it generates. For the Spain game people were scattered all over the stadium, there was no atmosphere, because there was no Canton stand equivalent.
The FAW need to nominate where in the Mill Stadium (Principality, whatever), the usual 25k-33k should sit/stand. Keep the Red Wall members together and try and generate the atmosphere from there.
Canton = North stand
This is the most important part.
I think moving to the Principality Stadium is the correct thing to do, to maximise the revenue coming into the FAW, which hopefully then gets re-invested in grassroots football.
Wales aren't going to challenge deep into the competition so atleast milk it for every penny.
Stay clear of the White Elephant !!!!
It’s nothing but bad luck for us
Sorry but you’re wrong. The qualification process was ratified in May.

As in the current 2024-26 European Qualifiers, twelve qualifying groups will be formed of four or five teams. Hosts England, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales will also participate in qualifying, drawn into separate groups.
The 12 group winners and 8 best runners-up (20 teams) will advance directly to the EURO 2028 final tournament.
Two spots in the final tournament will be reserved for the two best ranked host nations who are not qualified as group winners or best runners-up after the completion of the qualifying group stage.
The remaining spots will be assigned via play-offs between the remaining runners-up in the qualifying groups and the best ranked 2026-27 UEFA Nations League non-qualified group winners.
Depending on the number of spots used by the host nations, the number of final tournament spots decided by play-offs may vary between two and four, in one of the three following scenarios:
• Both reserved qualifying slots for the hosts used: Eight teams compete in two paths for two final tournament spots, with single-leg semi-finals and finals.
• One reserved qualifying slot for the hosts used: Twelve teams compete in three paths for three final tournament spots, with single-leg semi-finals and finals.
• No reserved qualifying slot for the hosts used: Eight teams contest four home-and-away play-off ties, with the winners advancing to the final tournament.
