Drew 2-2 having trailed at half time
Remember Exeter are a fellow League 1 side despite it being the nonsense trophy! Maybe more opportunities for the young lads when we enter the FA Cup 1st round

Report from yesterday"s draw with Huddersfield. Davies and Spiers with the goals.

Huddersfield's first point of the season (they'd lost 6-0 at Swansea) but it looks like they gave us a good game from the highlights.

Jake Davies has started well at that level. I saw him as a good, if slightly lightweight, winger at Academy level but he seems to have reinvented himself as a singing and dancing front man now (where's Pearce gone again, by the way?). Spiers looked busy, as always. He didn't have to work too hard for his goal but it was a nice cross for the first. Great bit of skill by Mannie Barton near the end.
u21s beat Watford 2-0
Perrett & Davies
No Cody Twose today. Hard to imagine a scenario where he might be needed tomorrow but BBM ploughs his own furrow which makes it tricky to rule anything out.
Interesting to see how many starts Tankiewicz is getting for the u-21s, they're not nursing him along at all.
4-2 win for the u-18s at Coventry today with a couple of goals for Mannie Barton.
Great pass to Perrett for his goal on Friday by our number 8 which was Trey George if you go by the team line up on Twitter, but I think it might have been Tankiewicz.
The Watford site said it was Tankiewicz and I'm pretty sure that's right. George was 11.
I said the other day that Jake Davies seems to have become a number 9 but Purse said he's only filling in there because of two injuries (Pearce and Ola presumably) so all the more credit to him for how he's done so far. He'd have had another goal on Friday if the defender hadn't beaten him to it.
Cody Twose is a very good player. Perrett made his debut last Tuesday and Tankiewicz is the the new name, but both Twose (a Rolls Royce midfielder, albeit still a little slight) and Will Spiers are both potential 1st Team players. Spiers is very raw, abrassive and a little rash. But is a very good athlete, makes things happen and scores goals.
Where's Spiers playing this season? Judging from the team listings he seems to be moving from full back (or wing back?) to winger, which was happening last season.
I saw him get the runaround at full back a couple of years ago in a Youth Cup tie and, while he can't be far off the first team squad, I assume he's seen as not quite good enough defensively to play full back yet but not an improvement on the wing options we've got either.
BBM got him involved pre-season so he must be on the radar though. Very energetic whenever I've seen him. If we switch to a back three he'd be ideal for bombing up and down the touchline all game.
Yes, mainly at right wing and sometimes at right back. He's having to more forward to accommodate the strange signing of Charlie O'Brien.
Made more odd in that next to Mannie Barton our best U18 prospect is Noah Williams who is an outstanding right back and I think Wales U18 captain.
I really dont get some of these U21 signings of players released elsewhere, all they do is block the progress of younger more talented players. They must be agent pleasers or favours for mates.
O'Brien is OK, but he's exactly the same age as Spiers, 2 years older than Kpakio, 3 years older than Noah Williams and 4th best of that group. Who authorises these signings?
Apter is another, we have Mafico, Perrett and Twose developing nicely and now Tankiewicz coming through. Where does he fit in?
I get what you mean but if O'Brien and Apter go on to be first teamers here then that will justify their signings surely? QPR fans were probably surprised to find them signing a lad called Eze a while back when he'd just been released by Millwall, having previously been released by Fulham and rejected by Reading. Hard to know how these things will turn out.
Spiers is still getting plenty of game time and he can't be far off a call up, especially with cup games coming up. Maybe tomorrow, to quote UB40.
Spookily, the under-21s play Burnley in the Premier League Cup tomorrow evening, overlapping the first team game with them. 7.00 kick off at Leckwith, free admission.

I think that was definitely the case in Warnock's time (the McKay twins anyone?).
However, I remember Darren Purse saying a couple of years ago that they sign these kinds of players to raise the age profile of the team, so that you don't have 11 16-17 year old kids going straight into the U21 set up (with the idea being that the other 18-21 year olds should already either be out on loan or in the first team). Whether it's a waste of time or not is up for debate, but there is a reason behind it.
As Loramski says, there's also the added bonus that one of them might break into the first team, although there's not been much success in that regard for us. The likes of Raheem Conte, Chanka Zimba, and Oli Denham played a handful of first-team games between them, and that's about it. Reindorf is the latest "experiment" I suppose, although I can't see him breaking into our first team anytime soon.

Good game this. We lost 2-1. Maybe just about right but we went toe to toe with a strong and aggressive Burnley team, kept going till the end and Will Spiers probably should've scored in injury time to level it up.
As intense a game as I've seen at that level. Burnley were a decent side but seemed to think we could be bullied out of the game. It didn't turn out like that though as Apter and O'Brien gave us a physical presence along with the excellent Kindon and Debono in central defence.
We played some good football. Jac Thomas linked up well with Will Spiers in the first half, Tankiewicz and Barton too on the other flank. Trey George was excellent all game and a great watch (but, surely, too small to make it) and Jake Davies was impressive as a makeshift striker.
As the game went on, Tankiewicz lost his way a bit and gave away possession a number of times but, like everyone else, never stopped working to win it back. Spiers didn't look entirely comfortable as a left winger I thought and Barton couldn't get in the game as much as he'd have wanted, but took his goal well. The positives outweighed the negatives though, a strong performance overall.
