I assume it is the trust board. If there are spare seats why not allow an election to fill them?

RichardM made a comment that because there were spare spaces on the trust board they were open to all. I was pointing out that there may be spare places but they are not accessible until there is an election. Generally when there is an election the seats will be filled but over time seats will become available as people leave for whatever reason. So his point was not really valid unless elections for spare seats are held when they become available

So, let's say that, instead of going down the confrontational route of forcing SGM's and possible EGM's, one of the twenty eight signatories instead chose to approach the Board on an individual basis volunteering to take up an unfilled Committee post that existed. Are you seriously suggesting that the Board would turn down such an offer? What evidence do you have that this would happen?

May be the constitution needs changing if the trust board truely wants to claim they are inclusive and democratic

This hard work. There are spare seats because not enough candidates come forward at elections. Therefore if someone had these bright ideas for recruitment they could have stood and probably be elected. However, they'll now have to wait until the next elections.
That said, I think the board has the power to co-opt people on your the board if they believe someone has skills that the board is lacking.

Good to hear from some new voices on this message board. I think it was only the other day that someone was bemoaning the lack of activity on this board. It's surely a good thing to hear from a number of new msg board members who've taken the trouble to comment on the Trust and the possibility of new commitee members.
I have been a member of the trust since it's inception and like (probably) the majority of the small membership I appreciate the efforts of those who put themselves forward for committee posts. I am a lazy bastard and live 150 miles away so excuse myself even though I know I probably could do more. So in fact I reserve my contempt for those who slag off those who do something and snipe from the sidelines, "I'm not joining because the trust does nothing". I recognise that the City needs a trust and applaud those that do something rather than don't. So I will look forward to hearing about the innovative plans the new folk have for increasing the Trust numbers but I'll say from the outset that suggestions concerning walking down Sloper Road shouting slogans won't be top of my list when considering electing officials.
On the subject of the Trust having become the Keith Morgan show (TLG mentioned this was a perception of people he talks to. Good of him to pass on this info to a wider audience), I don't know KM but I appreciate his efforts and expertise. I particularly appreciate the info fed back in a manner I can understand.
My view on the points you raised about people not being held accountable for the low numbers are I think answered above although I resent the suggestion that I haven't scrutinized the people concerned. I look forward to taking part in future elections as a voter where if I choose I may take the opportunity to not vote for the current board and take a punt on people who've done eff all in the past. The Other Bob Wilson is correct. The Trust has always co-opted people onto its board to fill vacancies not filled at the AGM. In fact three new board members have joined since 2024.

Sixty or so people join the Trust in a very short time, 28 of them then immediately seek to force an early election of the suggests to me that there is a co-ordinated takeover bid underway which, if successfu,l would undermine the wide-ranging work of the board. It looks highly suspicious. Is it attempt to remove the chair who appears to have upset one individual?

Those 28 should withdraw their resolution, look to work with the board going forward, let see what they have to offer and then seek election to fill vacancies at the normal election time in the new year. And if they don't the suspicions will only grow and I hope Trust members will firmly reject their resolution.

It is absolutely normal for the chair of any organisation to be the figurehead and be quoted far more than others just like the Prime Minister, First Minister of Wales, FIFA President or indeed any organisation, however big or it is. Whether some like it or not Keith is an accountant with expertise in football finance - an ideal person to have on the board of the Trust.

We’ve been approached by some newly joined members to ask what the Trust and its board has done since its formation.

So we’ve drafted a list, which is far from exhaustive, of the many initiatives the Trust has been involved in through its board and members. They cover the present and the past.

As volunteers we’re proud of our work for the community and representing Bluebirds fans.

For information: While we do have three long-standing board members, two new board members joined in 2024 and another in 2025.

FOOTBALL RELATED

· Worked with the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) and local MPs on the Football Governance Bill which became law and has led to the establishment of an Independent Football Regulator. Our role has been acknowledged by the Regulator’s Chief Operating Officer, Martyn Henderson OBE. The Regulator’s roles include protecting the interests of fans from unscrupulous club owners such as at Bury and more recently, Morecambe.
· Held regular meetings with club chair Mehmet Dalman and represented Trust members at club Supporter Liaison meetings and the Fans Parliament as well as pressing for the setting up of a Fans Advisory Board (FAB). The Trust now has two members on the FAB. The Trust board has also encouraged the club chair and other club directors to meet with fans generally.
· Attended the annual FSA meeting and represented the Trust at EFL Premier League, Championship and League One online meetings. One of our board members met with Trusts in south-west England during a recent cup tie in Exeter.
· Took a prominent role in the now successful campaign for Safe Standing at football grounds. Hosted an exhibition on safe standing in Cardiff.
· Produced a regular magazine for members. The next edition is out this month.
· Helped the club’s Disabled Supporters Association financially, including paying for a bus for disabled members to go to a match in Reading.
· Led a two year campaign to raise more than £85,000 to erect a statue in honour of Fred Keenor. This involved hundreds of hours of work by some board members and lobbying bodies, including government, and individuals, for support.
· The Trust board arranged a visit by players to Barry College for Black History Month.
· Held evenings in the past with former Bluebirds legends.

COMMUNITY

· Financially backed the establishment of the wonderful Memorial Garden at the stadium and we continue to support the work there.
· Held six foodbank collections, with another planned in December, collecting thousands of donations, both in cash and food.
· Sold Sol Bamba Shirts, raising vital funds for Lymphoma Action.
· Working with Cardiff City Foundation to arrange PSA testing and prostate cancer awareness at the stadium.
· Contributed £3,000 for a specially, designed mural at the Sensory Room at the stadium.
· Donated annually to Rookwood Sound, which broadcasts to patients in hospitals.
· Donated more than £12,500 to the Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice from the sale of specially-designed ‘blue shirts’ when Cardiff City was red. Also organised a bucket collection at the ground for the charity.
· Back in 2013 a Trust-organised survey showed City fans were pretty much split 50-50 on the controversial red rebranding. But a later year a similar survey showed 85% wanted blue back. Then a March in 2014 supported by all the major fan groups for the first time - Cardiff City Supporters' Trust, Cardiff City Supporters' Club, Cardiff City Forum, Cardiff City Online and Bluebirds Unite was held, leading eventually to the return of blue in early 2015.
· Adopted local charities chosen by members and supported them financially, including homeless and brain injury charities.
· Board members parcelled up food donations to help those in living in war-torn Ukraine."

This puts to bed the nonsense that the Trust board has done and is doing nothing. They put in hundreds of hours of work on behalf of members, particularly the chair, who some people want to oust.

This is not criticism, but most fans don't care about 80% of the list, and i guess that's why the membership is low.

Being the good conscience of Cardiff City FC shouldn't be the role of a volunteer group in a multi-million-pound global business.

Massive Kudos for the Sol and blue shirts, memorial gardens, and the Fred Kennor statue. But comments like

amplifies the comments that the trust are just Mehmets mouthpiece.

I do believe the general apathy toward the trust lies in its Vinnys club, and he'll do whatever he wants, whatever you say to his acolytes.
