Or say they've got ADHD, take the cash, the free ear buds and shite, blue badge and effectively retire at 17.

Relatively speaking there wasn't much in it. This lack of changing the tax thresholds is starting to annoy me. A year or two is fine but keeping them as they are for the best part of a decade fundamentally changes what a high earner is. It's also an easy way to put more money in lower earners pockets.

Minimum wage going is was inevitable and good for those on it of course, but I do worry we are at a point where businesses will see cutting jobs as a means to cut costs.

Agree on a few things they did re. increasing taxes on internet deliveries, online gambling, Uber etc. Personally I would have a flat 1% tax on all internet purchases to encourage in person activities.

What else was there? The budget leak beforehand was ridiculous, but the OBRs fault it seems. Kemi Badenochs budget response was ferocious, perhaps too much so.

I don't agree with the limits to ISAs, as stock investments are risky. People shouldn't feel compelled towards them. But you can still put a grand a month in a normal ISA so I'm not that concerned about people who can afford to do that.

Mixed feelings on the two child benefit limit. I'm not convinced it's a golden ticket as Universal , credit and housing benefit are greater than child benefit. Can see why it pisses off tax payers who struggle to pay for things for their own kids too.

Markets barely moved. No bad thing. Some stability is welcome I guess, but at the same time, I can't see it changing much really.
They can allocate the additional funds in S&S cash funds; they are not particularly risky at all.

It's stupid to tax a house if it's your main residence; it doesn't produce an income.

    The house doesn't pay it.

Almost every tax that isn't income/capital gains is just a way to hide revenue generation because the population won't vote for it otherwise. We have a real problem with the juxtaposition of what the country wants/what the country is willing to do to make it happen.

We must build stuff - Not near me though
We must have strong public services - Not paid for by me though

    and on and on..

No need for my ramblings, Noam Chomsky - The Political Economy of the Mass Media would be a good place to start, also his book Manufacturing Consent. But don't take his word for it, do some research and learn to think for yourself. The "weapons of mass destruction" is an interesting case study, but you could open up any news site to see the truth being leveraged on a daily basis. Good luck!

I regret asking now. It's hard to find common areas of agreement with somebody is completely opposed (/scared?) to offering their own opinion, I don't think you realise how much it invalidates anything you say.

Says the person who quotes extensively from one or two news sources, and you can't even identify the narrative engineering that is taking place before your eyes.

I can't really respond to detached vague statements like this..

I am not sure what you are referring to tbh. I very rarely base anything I think on news sources, most of what I talk about on here - nobody in the media cares or talks about. I just say what I see. Most of the media I would choose to read disagrees with me on migration, welfare, WFA, private schools etc. I base almost everything I think on one thing - fixed costs are too high (house price related and delivery model related i.e. energy). I don't know what you base what you think on, because you never get far enough into a post to say what you think.

You were a victim of narrative engineering, everybody saw how you were begging other people to tactically vote Starmer into power!

It's the A4 degree certification see butt.
I note that the commies clamour for the Epstein files have gone on the back burner, has something changed ? or have they suddenly realised their favourite follows are more likely to be implicated rather than the target ?

I'm sure you will have seen the latest vaccine studies which will soon gain traction, fancy hiding the damming data or just plain ignoring it, it would appear that the death of children in the vaccine trials just wasn't enough to put a halt on things the dam is breaking.

FFS, it's been around for centuries and you can even do courses on it.

Mr Cartman claims he doesn't pay attention to the media, yet he blames them for pushing Reeves into that ridiculous budget situation without considering that they may have been in cahoots. The latter option would be textbook Chomsky Manufacturing Consent 101. But no, that would be a CONSPIRACY THEORY, LOL.

If by 'ridiculous budget situation' you mean a few nothing tax rises to create a situation where the government is less affected by .x changes to macro-economic forecasts then sure I think the media have probably pushed her into being a bit less blindly optimistic but constantly talking about how shit the UK is.

Yes everybody already knows that governments try and use the media to drip feed/test policy. It would seem weird if they were in cahoots given the massively negative coverage Reeves has gotten since the budget.

People talk shit, the media do narrative engineering or manufacturing consent as Chomsky put it, and they influence people like you, e.g. your OTT tactically vote for Starmer campaign! Very sad
