I do. It's a lovely survivor of Art Deco architecture and so different to many others. Anyway, looks like they're turning -the exterior at least - into a St David's Arcade Mk2.

£140.million.Abertillery has been waiting for a railway station for years.

Have to agree.
That frontage is lovely and they are replacing it with a brick carbuncle.
The improvements on the barrier line and beyond will hopefully improve the general feeling of the place.
If I had an ultimate wish list and funding a dramatic glass canopy over all the platforms would be a statement .

As already said it's the rear of the station which is hardly anything to write home about. This is a big improvement.

The station has been "back-to-front for a few years, only pedestrians can access the front, cars have to park/drop at the back. Trust Cardiff coiuil to bugger things up.

Have they buggered things up? The majority of pedestrian footfall will be heading out the 'front' side of the station, it makes perfect sense to limit potential interactions with vehicles.

Not a bad system from the safety point of view. If someone is picking you up/dropping you off you safely use the back, if you’re walking into town/getting a cab, using the front is pedestrian friendly. What’s not to like?

I don't understand how it's alleviating overcrowding.

Unless you're extending the footprint of the building, new platforms etc which doesn't seem the case.

Unless you are from the area how do visitors know to exit via the rear to meet cars? I collect a few foreign colleagues up and they always end up at the front whilst I’m sat in the car park waiting for them. You can’t even go in and meet them off the train without a ticket
