BB-M on the win over Huddersfield

    BB-M

“I was really pleased with the performance. I thought we controlled the game for long spells, created good chances, and were really pleased at the end with the reaction to conceding the second goal, seeing out the game in such a comfortable fashion.

"It’s a great day for us all. We had the ball for good periods, found our creative players in forward areas and scored some brilliant goals.

“I thought the subs coming on brought a freshness to the game. It allowed us to increase our intensity with the ball. We started to get the ball to Cian Ashford and Isaak Davies and gave them service. Cian looked dangerous, and obviously, Isaak had the final say in the game.”

    Huddersfield Town Manager Lee Grant

“Disappointing result — we’re frustrated because it’s a game where we score two really good goals, and we lose the game. We need to be better in the big moments defensively, and that’s us collectively, not just as a backline and our goalkeeper. We have to protect the goal better than what we are doing currently.

“For me, we concede too many goals right now. We need to take a step as a group, so we need to be able to have the belief internally that we can come to Cardiff, or go to Stockport, or Bolton, or play against a big side in Bradford, whatever it may be, we need to go and take the set to win one of these fixtures. We haven’t done that yet, and that’s my real frustration, because I thought today we were really well placed to go and do it.”

Once again we concede from a corner, due to a crowded penalty area !!!!!!

We have conceded two League goals from set pieces all season, so I suppose you're just about technically correct to say "once again".

The other was against Bradford, which came from a screamer outside of the box which didn't take a deflection. Hardly conceded due to a crowded box.

Reckon the manager might be less of a clown that you suggest, Tit.

I don’t delve into it like some nerds, but there was also a goal scored when there were 11 men back, which deflected off of Joel, family stand end
Plus they hit the post yesterday, when we scrambled it off the line, another full box.

There are more than you suggest, corners & free kicks

My sentiments exactly. One big deflection and one a complete mess. Manager-speak of the worst kind.

Thank you for delving into it and telling me about the "other goal" not from a set piece - makes it easier to understand what you are on about. Not sure them not scoring and us having players available in the box to scramble a ball away after they hit the post supports your argument there though.

That brings the total number of goals conceded in your mind to 3, even if you do include the Bradford goal which was just a good, clean, strike and would have been a difficult save with noone in the box. That's the same number of goals as we have conceded from penalties this season (if you can bear another actual fact).

If you ever fancy graduating from incorrect to "nerd", there are plenty of websites which can help you make points about our play which are factually correct without the need for spending more than a minute delving into things.

Looking on the Huddersfield message boards their fans don’t seem too happy with his “ manager-speak” comments either

They scored two really good goals? The first took a huge deflection and the second was a gift pass from one of ours after we’d no doubt switched off a bit after going 3-1 up.
