I don't see Iran backing down or giving up. Far from it. They won't be satisfied until the US no longer represents a threat to them. The only way that can happen is if the US pulls out of the Middle East and the Gulf, giving up all its military bases.
Similar questions are being asked on the Korean Peninsular, that it's time for the US to withdraw.
I think it will be the a matter of dimishing returns for the Iranians though. The US and Israel have such good intelligence, technology and weaponry that they can take out the sources of outgoings missiles and drones. However, things are never that clear-cut, of course.
