Nice start for mason crane.
Crane spinning the ball a lot and all three of Hadley’s wickets had the batsman getting into weird positions as he got surprising bounce out of a pretty lifeless pitch.
I popped down for a couple of sessions yesterday, and didn’t expect Glamorgan to bowl out Yorkshire quite so easy today. The pitch was so slow and lifeless yesterday. Every shot sounded as if it came off the bottom of the bat. But I suppose I did think that if Dom Bess could bowl so economical, then Crane and Kellaway could enjoy themselves. It is ridiculously early to start the county season though. The outfield unsurprisingly was so slow. A couple of dry weeks and a bit of sun and it will feel much more like the cricket season.
111-3 at the close. Glamorgan going along at around two and a half runs an over again,. It’s going to be a tricky declaration tomorrow for Carlson - in a way it might be best to score about a hundred and get bowled out because that would mean the wicket was probably doing a bit.
That's a brave declaration.. Can't understand why Glammy didn't back for the extra couple of overs until lunch to get over 300 ahead. A bit surprising. Yorkshire need 295 to win off 68 overs.
A very encouraging first game all things considered- think it’s reasonable to think we would have won without the delays on the first day.
The pessimist in me wonders if that could be a missed opportunity come the end of the season, but in fairness I don't think Carlson could have been any more positive with the declaration. If we'd scored quicker Sun evening/Mon morning, we could have arguably given ourselves 10 more overs to try and bowl them out, but it's hard to be negative.
Thought Hadley had a good debut after a wobbly start; jury's still out on Dickson as a red ball batsman (I see Northeast scored 94 for Kent, incidentally).
Despite taking 17 wickets in 130 odd overs, we're still clearly a pace bowler short, too. Interesting that Nick Webb said Harris took a job offer that came out of the blue, which suggests he left Glammy in the lurch a little bit. Maybe Surrey or one of the other "big" counties have a talented young seamer we can borrow for a bit.
you cant ask for a better start, leg stump out the ground first ball notts 0-1
Notts 101-5 at lunch - three wickets for Van Der Gugten.
Doesn’t look good dropping your new batsman after just one game mind.
I mentioned Leonard in a previous message, but he won’t be playing until the end of May due to injury and he’s missing all of this first group of four day fixtures.
Notts 279 all out, four wickets each for Hadley and Van Der Gugten, but Glamorgan struggling at 20-2 in reply.
Kellaway is injured and has been substituted by Dickson.
Ouch. Losing Carlson at the end of the day means advantage Notts. At 79/4 a lot resting on Ingram.
its all going wrong this morning 87-6
92/8 which i guess is effectively 92/9 with Ben Kellaway not being involved
