    Mandelson Files

Would have been better to call them the "Peter files"

Should we expect better from our politicians? we should, but most of us appreciate they are all as based as each other.

I don't know what based means, but i'm guessing it's a slur. If so, then i don't agree with you. There will be some decent politicians about the place, people who went into politics for the' right' reasons, whatever colour strip they play in. There are plenty of careerists and egotists amongst the political elite, no doubt about that, and a fair few at the extreme ideological end of the spectrum as well, self serving and seeing a political career as a way of advancing without much of a care for the people.

There are probably a hundred ways to change the system, although the biggest threat to Politicians is us, the people who vote. In my opinion we're a great nation at moaning about things then doing absolutely nothing about it. If the public showed their disdain towards the actions of politicians and legislation by actively getting involved, then i do think that many of them would think twice about what they do.

There seems to be so much apathy in this country, yet little resistance towards the people who dictate our lives. Maybe it's not that bad for a large group, the group that moans and do absolutely nothing about the shit they're moaning about. Just a thought.

The great Mark Twain once said ‘if voting made a difference, they wouldn’t let us do it’
My biggest gripe about politicians, is when they refuse to answer a simple question. They can get asked the same question over and over in the same interview, but refuse to and body swerve it.
I’v always wanted to see and hear an interviewer say to a politician refusing to answer a certain question “i’m going to ask you once more, and if you don’t give the public a straight answer, i’m going to stick the nut on your beak and smash you over the head with my clip board” 😁
On a serious note, Running a country of any size and keeping everyone happy and contented is nigh on impossible.
As for the behaviour of some politicians, be it theft, embezzlement, corruption, sexual predatory, etc etc, then there isn’t a single profession in the world that is exempt from all of that. The churches and other religious organisations, and police forces world wide, being prime examples.
The big difference being any member of Joe public getting caught will be dealt with toot sweet, while members of big organisations (Royal Families, Governments etc), get well shielded.
As Tuerto has pointed out though, we as a nation, just sit back and let it continue.

I have no idea what based means. It was a typo and looking back i can't think what I was trying to say

yeah I know and agree, it just seems the good eggs appear to be few and far between these days, and all we are left with is the detritus who try and convince us that the shit sandwich we are fed is actually philly steak

Very true. We've seen a recent change in Wales with the election of Plaid, and time will tell, but I wonder if there will be any real change made.

We should expect better from our politicians not to turn out to be egotistical, conceited, law breaking waankers but I also expect someone who is a Doctor not to potch about with patients when in their care or a nursery staff member not to take photo's of kids etc.

What's more interesting about the Mandelson affair is someone knew he was a massive cuunt (most assumed correctly) before employing him?

It's remarkable someone thought 'he's good to go'.
