As stated in the article, still doesn’t stop the tactic being used simply to break up the momentum of the other team. If a goalkeeper goes down injured, the opposing captain should be able to choose an outfield player to leave the pitch.

A step. Although part of the tactic is to break up play and stop momentum.

Other than making the keeper leave the pitch I'm not sure what else they can do.

I would have them leave the pitch or be subbed.

Plus, I wish they would follow “EGG” and stop the clock

In the majority of cases, this ‘injury’ trick is used to allow the manager and coaching staff to pass on a change of tactics, usually something to counter what the opposition is doing (obviously). The easiest way to stop this would be to send the teams to their own goal areas, or to the opposite side of the pitch to the dug-out.

Southampton would have spies in the ground on that ‘opposite’ side.
