    Same here!
Cancer is a terrible disease and so many people are affected. So please if you notice any change in your toilet don't hang about get to your doctors immediately.

    Re: Kevin Keegan

In 2006 I noticed I was peeing too often, so looked up the symptom and realised I had type 2 diabetes. (I know, idiot!)
Saw my doctor and was told to lie on the table and bend my knees up as far as I could.
Seems I had a very enlarged prostate and was referred tothe cancer dept in Birmingham after being told on christmas eve that a sample was cancerous.
I was operated on in early january 2007 and recovered, one of my six monthly PSA tests in 2020 showed it had returned, after 33 shots of radiotherapy I had the all clear and am still clear today.
Moral is...Any doubts, any doubts at all see your doctor! And the finger of doom has been replaced by a simple blood test, so no excuses.

After my positive blood test a year ago I nag all my mates to be tested. The earlier it’s caught the better. My initial PSA was 97.8, after radiotherapy, regular tablets & 3 monthly injections, I’m down to 0.1 PSA. All through medication obviously but hope to be cancer free, maybe, in two years time. Don’t be shy or daft lads, get tested

Glad to hear your treatment's going well 👍
Absolutely right about testing. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial. Take advantage of any free checks available to you and get anything you're worried about asap.

I think the fact that we're just finding out about it when it's stage 4 is not a good sign.

Amazing to think that it’s a dozen years since I had my prostate biopsy. I remember at the time that there was a debate over the usefulness of the PSA blood test as it can lead to invasive tests and surgery for people who do not have cancer. That debate is still going on, but there’s two examples in this thread of people for whom the blood test was definitely the right way to go and I’m pleased to see that they’re over the worst as they now have a degree of certainty that wasn’t there before.

Keegan was supposedly the first Englishman who played in a Bundesliga-winning team. It is alleged that he was earming £12k a year at Liverpool when HSV purchased him and increased his earmings to a massive £250.
And while he was strutting his stuff at Hamburg I was schlepping around on local pitches in the Fatherland, playing at a much inferior level but where we occasionally had rum in our coffee at half time when the weather was cold.

I reckon you were the German parks version of a 'Libero' Stepping out of defence with the ball and stringing balls into midfield. I don't think that i'll be able to cope if you tell me that you were a hacking fullback who wouldn't leave the 18 yard line.

Nah, I was a number 11, old fruit. And one who learned very quickly not to literally translate terminology such as 'in the air', 'on the wing' and 'penalty' to my team mates.
A 'penalty' is reverred to as 'an eleven metre (Elfmeter), which is over an inch longer than twelve yards.

By the way, I understand that when Toshack was managing in Spain and speaking to the press in Spanish he literrally translated the phrase 'like water off a duck's back', which flummoxed the locals.

Toshack is also routinely introduced as 'John Benjamin' in the spanish media. Benjamin being his middle name. I have no idea why, and it's a useless piece of information to share, although i wasn't going to be out done in the John Toshack trivia stakes.

I was on holiday on the Costa del Sol last week and was picked up by a taxi driver and he asked where I was from. I said Wales and he replied “Ah Gales. Gareth Bale, Ryan Giggs and John Benjamin Toshack.”

Yeah, strange one, but quite nice. Maybe that's how he was originally introduced to the spanish sporting public and it's just stuck, or maybe it's a Spanish thing in terms of respect, Hierarchy etc either way, i like it.
