Depends on whether the three players who turned up "ill" had coronavirus symptoms - you could read it as though they'd already lost 4 players to coronavirus and then three players turn up feeling ill with a stomach upset or something but the manager told them they'd have to play.

Obviously if they've been sent out there with likely covid-19 then you'd expect there to be repurcussions
